VSD 5.9.4 - Won't overwrite older...

Hi Devek

I think something else must be going on. Maybe your server over ftp is not allowing that, or your uploading to a different folder? I have done extensive tests and have never seen that issue in actually any version of VSD.

Glad everything else is working. The sorting won't be in until the 6.0 release later this summer.

I just did an update/upload with 5.9.4. While it did indeed ask to save after only changing text (and properly uploaded the change), it only saved to index.html, not the other 3 (index.htm, default.html, default.htm). I don't have any issue with that, but I know the intial purpose of the multiple index/default pages were to cover the bases for all servers.

Oh, I see what you're saying. The files are correctly updated and uploaded, but the export folder with the html files is not updated on the local hard drive. This being the case, files uploaded with the internal FTP will be updated, but uploaded by an external FTP app will not.

P.S. I'd die for just one OC48. :P I feel our work's T1 is soon becoming the "new dialup."http://www.coffeecuphelp.com/adam/images/emoticons/waiting.gif

That can't really make sense, the files in the vnu folder are the same files that are uploaded to the server. There are not 2 copies. If they upload fine using another program or even with the built in ftp, then they are being generated.

I would think so too. My only guess is that the index.html file that is uploaded isn't referenced by the export folder as even my "index.html" file in the export folder is an old date even though it was uploaded w/ today's date through the built-in FTP. Ok, reading that over again, I even confused myself. I've uploaded several times today w/ updates and here's a sample of my current files locally and remotely:

All html files except for the 4 index/default files have current dates and remotely, only index.html is uploaded. Again, this was through VSD's built-in upload. Obviously, had I tried uploading w/ any other app, my index.html would still be 4/1 instead of 4/28. Odd, eh? :D Gotta keep ya busy, Scott. http://www.coffeecuphelp.com/adam/images/emoticons/giggle.gif

If you make a change to your index page and upload in VSD, does the new content appear on the Web?

Well if it works, then the date issue has to be something local to the pc. At least the files are uploading and changing ;)

True dat. :P It'd only be a problem for those that don't use the built-in FTP. I, myself, have been quite impressed so far with the newer synchronization. I'll be testing this out more later and will share any other details that might help narrow down what's going on.

I must first admit that I am currently not running 5.9.4 so it may have changed, but in the past, if you do a Save, you get a *.vnu_website folder created where your VNU file is. And when you do a Preview or Upload, the files were created in the temp folder, as pointed to by your environment variable ...
