Missing Images VSD

Hello:

Using VSD 5.9.4. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my images keep coming up missing after successful uploading. I have a test page here: http://agent4185.oxyhost.com/index.html

I have searched the forums for an answer to my problem and someone said to rename the .JPG pics to .jpg but that didn't help. Even the .gif files aren't showing up.

Can someone look at the html code on my test index.html page and tell me what's going on?

Also, do I have to resize an original picture BEFORE I insert it into VSD or does VSD do it automatically as it is placed? I have noticed that when I click on my uploaded picture in my file manager, it is huge and not the same size as it appears on the web page in VSD preview.

Thank you in advance everyone.

Greg,

You may want to click on profile and change your forum name to something other than your email address. Spammers are always looking for valid email addresses.

I looked at your code, and found this: files/banner4_0.jpg which would indicate that the photo should be located at http://agent4185.oxyhost.com/files/banner4_0.jpg and when I look there, I get a 404 error. Either your code is pointing to the wrong location, or the jpg did not get uploaded.

Do you have an FTP program? If not, there are free ones available, including the CoffeeCup Free FTP program. Using the FTP program, open your website, and look for the missing images. If you find them, you will know where they are located, and you can view them using a browser. That will tell you what the code should read. If you do not find them, try to upload the page again and see if VSD will upload them.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for responding. I use smartftpclient and also have used the upload tab on folder manager in oxyhost too. Both indicate the files were uploaded and when I click on them in folder manager they show up in my browser with the file name. Hmmm. OK, I will try the coffeecup FTP upload way like you suggested. I'll see if that works.

Yes, thanks for pointing out my user name and changing it. I will do so immediately.

OK, just used the coffeecup FTP and everything uploads fine - but still no graphics on the site. How would I fix the coding like you suggested?

Thanks,
Greg

I tried to find your files folder also, is it there with the html pages and index file? the files folder is what holds your images that need to be with your index file. might also consider using 1 word names with no spaces alot easier to, some servers have problems with spaces.heres an example of file structure:

Greg,

Can you give us a list of where things are located? Something like what Bruce posted:

/index.html
/test.html
/files/image2.jpg
/movies/mymovie.html
/movies/movie1.avi

The list above would indicate that the index and test pages are in the root directory and image2.jpg is in a folder named files while mymovie page and the movie1 avi file are located in the movie folder.

It is also possible to have several levels of folders. I have an images folder with several folders. One of the folders in the images folder will have several folders with each folder holding the photos for a different page on my site. It is important to know the exact location of a file so the server (a very literal computer) will know where to get that file for display.

My problems are solved! See here:

My problem was that an image file wouldn't upload and so every image thereafter wouldn't upload either as VSD would just stop uploading at that point. You said that your uploading was successful though, so it's probably not the same thing.
I hope you can work it out!
