Hello,

I created sites with VSD Designer. I always have a problem with a shockave flash on the bottom of the text. Sometimes there is a large gap between text and flash. Sometimes flash lies over the text. It makes no difference where I watch the site (firefox, explorer, ...). Now I found out, that some text boxes a possible to do copy and paste, some are not possible:

On this site you can do copy and paste from text box
http://thuermer-tours.de/Uganda_Die_Perle_Afrikas.html

On this site you can´t do copy and paste from text box
http://www.thuermer-tours.de/botswana_s … r_4x4.html

Maybe this effects the gap to the flash. Do you know, where I can set, whether a visitor can do copy and paste or not?

thanks
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

I have had this happen to me too before. You need to made sure that your HTML box that contains the flash movie does not in anyway overlap any part of the text box. I found by clicking on the HTML box then back to the text box you can see where the two may overlap.

Put some space between the two objects and you should be able to copy the text of the webpage again.

Hello Steve,

thanks for your support. I have checked the position of the html box. It does not overap the text box.

You can see an example attached. At VSD there is no gap between text box and html box. But if I upload the site, there is a gap.

Sometimes there is a gap. Sometimes the boxes overlap and very rarely it works.

I have absolutely no idea "why"! Maybe you?

This is the site I am talking about as example: http://www.thuermer-tours.de/botswana_s … r_4x4.html

I have also uploaded a screenshot of my VSD.

thanks
Sebastian

Sebastian-
If you Copy/Paste text with VSD it will add lots of space on the bottom. The more text you copy the bigger the space.
Check this page to see what I mean- http://www.stbonifacecincinnati.com/Sun … letin.html
However if you copy/paste in small pieces it works fine, like this page- http://stbonifaceschool.net/the_BLAZE.html
Another suggestion is to copy/paste text into a Word Document first, then into VSD. Sometimes that will minimize the space, but not always.

Good suggestion Tim. I would go one step further and copy it into NotePad instead as Word will carry over some formatting. When you copy your text into notepad it strips all formatting then copy it from notpad to VSD it should work.

Tim,
Steve,

thanks for your great suggestions. So, how do I get rid of the space? Should I copy teh text into notpad and delete the text at VSD thereafter? After that copy the text back from notpad to VSD? Do you think that could be a solution?

I will try!

thanks
Sebastian

Sebastian-
As Steve said Notepad strips all formatting from text. Copy text into Notepad, then copy/paste into VSD.
I still think you'll have some extra space at the bottom, and as I mentioned before the only way to avoid that is to copy/paste small snippets at a time.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
