Once you have bought some CC software, all the upgrades are always free. :)

Remember, this is only the first full release of Web Image Studio! There’s still much to come in future releases—all of which are free upgrades for those of you who already own the application.

Web Image Studio is a program that we designed to fill a gap: There wasn’t a product on the market that makes editing web graphics a truly simple task. It was our mission to create one that specializes in web graphics without requiring a difficult user interface. In other words, we aimed to create a product that allows you to create and customize your own web graphics without having to learn an incredibly complicated program.

The easiest way to do this is by using a vector graphics editor. Vectors and bitmaps are very different things: Vectors draw images using coordinates and color information, while bitmaps are just a grids of pixels. This means that if you zoom in on a vector graphic (.svg, .wif), it never loses quality, but if you zoom in on a bitmap (.jpg, .png, .gif) it becomes pixilated. You can read more about the difference between these two types of files here: http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … -wif-file/

Most vector graphics programs are massively difficult to use, so Web Image Studio fills this gap, and we’re very happy with the result! Because vector graphics are relatively simple, we can do stuff like easily swapping out colors or adjusting lines after they’re drawn.

Then we noticed something else: There didn’t seem to be a vector graphics editor that ALSO processes bitmaps! We realized that we could accomplish both goals within the same program and set out to include an easy-to-use image editor that would specialize in making simple customizations with striking results. This is just one of the upgrades included in the full version of Web Image Studio, but it’s one of the upgrades that we’re most proud of.

We don’t yet have a text rotation/angle skewing tool, unfortunately, or an easy way to work with image transparencies. These features have proven very difficult to implement, and rather than delay the release of the program by six months just to include text rotation, etc., we’re going to be working toward including them in a future release—and remember, if you own Web Image Studio now, you’ll be able to upgrade for free later. :)

Colors from images don’t appear in the color palette because bitmaps can contain literally millions of different colors. Replacing colors in bitmaps doesn’t work quite as simply as it does with vectors, which is exactly why we created the “Pop” effect in the Image Editor. Take a look at the “Make your photos pop!” section of this page for a quick tutorial on color replacement in images: https://www.coffeecup.com/store/special … agestudio/

Also, we elected to not include undo/redo buttons in the toolbar because we didn’t want to clutter it with icons. You can still use the Edit menu to access these options, or use the tried-and-true keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y) to quickly reverse change. What do you all think: Would you rather have these buttons in the toolbar?

We love to hear your suggestions and concerns about our products! It helps us determine what is really important to our customers, and lets us know which features on our “wish list” we want to work toward including next. Thanks for the input!

Well said Scott,

I have seen this time and time again with all the software from CC. Releases are almost always like a Pre-Release, usually a nicely working copy that does not always include every feature that it plans to have, and many times ends up including a lot of features that weren't planned for that the users asked for as they used it. Quite a nicely rounded way of doing things I think. I don't mind having less features at release when I'm pretty sure the ones I'm looking for will be attempted to be added later, or that they are already being worked in at the release. Makes it kind of exciting whenever updates happen to see what has been included.

I would like to add that I would love to see the undo/redo buttons added too. I don't know about others, but I use them constantly in image editing programs just to test features of the program that I want to see how they look on things. Having to use the menu or constantly user shortcuts isn't as nice and easy as just clicking a button is. :) Just my 2 cents on that part.

Thanks Scott,

You have explained everything a lot clearer now, just wish you had put all that in the PDF guide that came with the program. I had no idea what a vector was, I had however heard of a bitmaps but did'nt know what it was.

I guess re-colouring will come with practice. Here's a suggestion could you put up/down arrows next to the slide bar in the image editor (like on the width/height) I find it a little tricky sliding to the correct colour, just thinking arrows would be easier.

Here's what I have done so far.

I suppose not bad for my 1st attempt. :/

I vote YES to the undo/redo in the tool bar. Could you squeeze a crop icon in too?

I will be looking out for those updates - with all my suggestions included.

Here's another - how about a spell checker of text!

I do understand where you are coming from with the way you have ended up with a few copies of the software Sue, but looking at your site, I would say the investment was well worth it. Your website is one of the best I have seen here. It's great. :D

Wow thank you Bren.

That makes it feel all worth while. :D

Here's hoping for a few customers that think the same. That is my next challenge - getting it found, I know I still have a bit more work to do on that side. Though I must say I am already getting more hits than I ever did with my old site. Not sure if that is the software SCC or S-Drive - maybe a bit of both. :)

Posting a link in the forum probably has nothing to do with it.;)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

I haven't yet d/l this pre-release, but have the Lite version, just haven't played around with it too much yet. I have and used Adobe Illustrator, and it may be a great program, it can be very complicating and take a long time to learn. Hence why I am glad CC has made this software. I am working on another site for a friend so will be trying to use this software for it.

Also I am wondering, can you take a bitmap file and easily turn it into vector, without much distortion or cleanup? We run a CNC machine (computer controls a router) which creates the programs from created vectors. We have programs that do make vectors, but depending how pixelated a picture is it can take time to clean it up afterwards.

Scot, i noticed you said:
The lite version was actually free. We gave it away with all of our graphic pack specials. Anyone who just purchased it outright without buying the graphics pack, we are taking care of. ;)

I bought the lite version for $19 so the special offer of full is another $19 = $38. That would be $1 off full price. My egg was also WISL but ... how does that work?
I should have something clever to say... but I don't.

Because you purchased WISL directly without the graphics pack, you were already given the entitlement for the software. Just go download it from https://www.coffeecup.com/help/myproducts/

How cool is that.... ;)
