@ Cruttera - I use Twitter.

I think websites are evolving towards infomercials.

Here is what I think is the best kind of website style (because I am more into the marketing end than design):
* https://www.topsytree.com (notice the https? Orderform is right there - BRILLIANT)
* https://www.tomatogiant.com almost the same as above but i like their colour-scheme better.
* http://www.livemercial.com/ - this is an interesting site... similar to the above, in fact one of the above is 'powered by' livemercial

I thought those were excellent websites to want to learn how to build. They use some flash animation, lots of color that suits the style of what they represent. The navigation is practical and not too fancy. Easy on the eye, entertaining and informative.

Basically commercial websites are colorful and have better design. Yahoo and MSN are great website.

I think that clear lines and colours are important for professional looking webdesign. I prefer lighter colours, as it gives a feeling of space - this may be only me though!
