Discuss yes... coherce users to constantly help him with things that he is supposed to be "learning" no. Yes by all means discuss anything you want here, but it's abuse when it gets to the point of asking the users here to help you with homework. That's something that should be asked at the place he's doing the courses for, not here.
My post though is more on the issue of him not getting much benefit (hence the users here constantly having to help/fix/do the work for him) by using a program to create things he should be creating himself. It's more directed at him not the forums, but yes it does get to the point of abusing the forums when it goes this far.
I personally dont' care if you post about Trees or Cars or whatever you want in this forum, but this thread wasn't started in this forum even, and although the question basically pertained to RLM, it is because of using it for something he shouldn't be using it for and the users here should not have to fix issues he can't work out for homework that he's using the entirely wrong software for.
In the end, the problems he's having are of his own causing. If it were for a website he was building for real use that would be one thing, ask away, but this is for something he's supposed to be learning via a course and that's the forums he should be asking his questions on.
In all truth, he could do so "if" he weren't using a canned software that is creating canned code for him that he doesn't understand fully. Because of this he is probably not even able to ask those questions there.
Just my 10 cents on the subject, but I personally feel this is abusing the forums.
@ Matt: I know you're not "intentionally" abusing anything here, just asking for help, but in the end if you do things as you should be, then you could be asking for help with your instructor or the course forums rather than here if you do the code yourself like you should be. I'm not trying to be a jerk here, just trying to help you see that you're not getting the right benefit of your course by doing things the way you are, and that it's not right for you to expect people on the CC forums to work with you on this. You've paid for a course, make them earn their wages.
