I certainly don't want to offend CoffeeCup.

You are nowhere near as out of order as a lot of these other jokers! :D

Hi Eric

In showing what I offer and suggesting any exchange I am certainly soliciting:
- I need some more dedicated help with my sites, and
- I am happy to offer my expertise in exchange

This is different to the freely offered comments in a forum, and implies more responsibility in the exchange than in a forum. In reading many other posts I have a sense of soliciting going on, maybe more subtly than mine. Things like "If you want more help, visit me on my website" ... (where any proposed transaction can take place off the forum). I am not very good at this subtle art.

I have to admit I am really a beginner in forums, not sure of rules and etiquette in this aspect. I have spent more time in this current forum that any other ever. I have only made the briefest technical questions in this and a couple of other forums, always receiving wonderful support.

So I really cannot know or go further in discussing this ... without the expert knowledge.

Please let me know if I am breaking explicit or implicit rules and I will take out my posts.

Thanks for your concern.

Norman,
thanks for the clarity.
I think at first, your intentions were unclear.
Regarding your development question. I am glad to hear that you are moving away from frames. There is a little learning curve to CSS, but not too much. There are many great tutorials out there that can help as well. As you go if you have questions feel free to come back and post them under the proper heading (for example, web design question, or CSS question, or something like this), that way you get expert help much faster. :D

He did nothing wrong. If you look at his site code, it was generated with HTML Editor 2008. No worse than any other shameless link in a signature.

Tom doesn't need to code on boxes or be discovered to live well. He only needs to make the wife happy. :) How do you think I spend so much time on this forum? :D
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Hi Norman,

In my humble opinion you have not broken any rules, - at least not yet! ;)

I see that you have been posting on again off again since early 2008.
Welcome back!
Maybe you'll stick around longer this time around? Ask away in the forums if you have any coding- or website questions! There are lots of people here who are ready and willing to help out! :)

Hiya Norman,

As I'm sure most here would agree, if you need any help at all feel free to ask away, or if you need help with making the site let us know that here, many of us are available to do websites (mild solicitation for Eric's benefit) LOL

If you'd like help making your site (in other words you really don't want to do it yourself and would rather that someone else do it for you), feel free to contact me. You can reach me through my business site Contact form, and that way we can exchange emails without posting them on the public forum here for Google to spam us with lol.

*Only nods his head in agreement with Jo Ann, because he is afraid to speak*

Ok. So I speak. :D

But...I am mildly afraid of Tom. Homeless people freak me out. Especially when they somehow have computers to comment in a forum.

I think we have strayed off the theme here.... getting tangled in whether or not I am soliciting for business.

The OP was about losing well being and effectiveness in our relationships, our other real work, sleep, health, time, .... with our (I speak for myself) addiction to "the virtual world" ... to a fantasy that we will find some kind of 'satisfaction' through these on-line games and pursuits.

There is a strange contradiction here:

- one one hand I feel well taken care of by the CoffeeCup Team and community when I ask any question (well almost any)

- whilst on the other hand I dedicate far too much time and energy to the fantasy that .... "If I get my website right ... then I will have success ... then I will .... and finally I will be well and happy" .... and in this I am neglecting my actual friends (the warm people), clients, health and my needs to sleep ... or whatever.

When I started this thread I had an image of the original CoffeeCup Cafe, ,,,, a corner in the site (The Break Room) where we can talk about these more personal, and very real issues that (I suppose) we all share in different ways.... after reading many messages about how other participants (and myself) were neglecting themselves, their work and friends in this 'egg chase'.

The basic question seems to be ¿How do we combine: our on-line fun, essential CoffeeCup marketing, and our other personal relationships, needs and care?

(Not soliciting for business)
