Looking for ideas, suggestions and, above all, the prior experience of CC users out there, on the topic of selling music CD tracks online by download from our (CC-built-) site.

During our Googling on the topic, one name that keeps popping up is "cdbaby.com". They seem to be a serious company that cater specifically to independent singer/song writers and would take care of all the administrative hassles, payments, etc.. It would be very helpful to hear from anybody who has personal experience with this organization, or other similar organizations.

We are just starting out thinking about this, so any ideas, pointers or cautions (?) would be most appreciated!

Hi Per
no experience of "cdbaby.com"
I developed a site using CC software for a local group and they sell music via "songcast". The site I created is for a 4-5 piece band or they work as a duo. The band leader is also a songwriter and sells his songs on the site via a link to "songcast". Another option to consider.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for responding. I looked quickly at your link and noticed the links to Amazon and iTunes, which I guess are the big ones in this business. For now, in this early stage of our information gathering, I am adding your response to my informal "data bank" for digestion.:).
