How much to charge for a domain name?

A guy has asked if he can purchase a domain name from me. I am somewhat attached to the name even though I haven't done anything with it. However, I do think I want to sell it. How do I go about figuring out how much to charge? I've asked him if he has a price in mind, and he doesn't.

Any advice?

Thanks!

A new domain name cost USD $ 10 to 15.

If it's so unique name and required by someone for personal use and no t for commercial purpose maybe you could sale it for USD $ 50 to 100.

And if that unique domain name inquired by big commercial companies (big branded companies), it depends how much that unique name is representing their company and their business name. if you think that domain name has big impact to boost their product online then you can ask for USD $ 5,000 to 10,000 or 50,000 to 100,000.

After all it's all depends how much you going to sale and how much a buyer going to pay.

This is my opinion .

And The Most Expensive Domain Name;

Business.com which was resold in 1999 for $7.5 million, according to Guinness World Records, appears to have been surpassed as the most expensive domain name, and not by theRecordBreakingDomain.com which was attempting to become the most expensive domain name in a media-move by selling for $7,500,001.

On January 19, 2006, it was reported that the domain Sex.com sold for $14 million US dollars to Boston-based Escom LLC, making it the most expensive domain sold. Former Sex.com owner Gary Kremen, reportedly wants to get out of the adult entertainment business. Other sources are quoted as saying the price Sex.com sold for was $11.4-12 million US dollars according to Reuters and AZOnline.

While the current market for internet domains is nowhere as solid as it was during the dot-com peak, the market remains strong and is experiencing solid growth. Each year tens of millions of dollars are exchanged during the resale of domains. In September of 2005, the gambling company Leisure & Gaming has paid $1.4 million for the vip.com domain. This is the most expensive domain name sale publicly reported during 2005.

The most expensive domain sale in 2004 was for creditcards.com.

I once sold a domain name for $1,500.00, and I only paid $8.00 for it! You need to go to afternic.com and pay them $20 to appraise it for you. If you tell me what the domain name is I can give you a VERY ballpark figure for what its worth and let you know if its even worth paying for the appraisal.
