Hey David, thanks for asking. One way to foster the CoffeeCup community would be to encourage the upload and trading of HTML Editor extensible objects, like javascripts, DHTMLs, and snippets. It would be cool to have a forum topic (or some other venue) to search for new scripts and be able to use those in my projects. CoffeeCup did a fine job at making HTML Editor extensible, now we need a place to get new code.

Next, make other CoffeeCup products extensible too. Firestarter, for example, can seriously benefit from this. Imagine plug-in scripts that create all those cool effects, and a forum to trade plug-ins. No more, "I wish it would do"... Then it would be, "Check out this new plug-in effect for Firestarter!"

Good luck,

Hi Bwana,

That's an excellent idea. It's going straight in my notebook. I have a couple of other projects that I think would help the community a great deal, and this ranks right up there with them. Thanks!

Hi David,

I have had some reproducable errors with some CC software. They have been reproducable on different PCs and present both on Vista and XP. I found fixes to all of them myself and they stumped the programmers. Also nobody else seemed to be reporting the issues. I would like to be able to ask if anybody else has experienced them.

Also, I have some other comments which are also not applicable to any of the present forums.

I think it would be useful if there could be a general CC forum which could be used for CC website and general software issues.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Cheers

Guy

Guy,

There is a Web Design and Development forum where you can bring up any question related to your websites. There is a break room where any topic is welcome.

Of course, any problem related to CoffeeCup software has a message section for that group of software programs. The users may not be able to answer all the question, but there is a very diverse group that might just have seen the problem you are having, so join in and if you don't get an answer in a day or to, try adding some information to see if anyone has an idea.

Hi Guy,

I would like to start a place where you could show your reproduceable bugs and ask if any other users have had them, but honestly these forums are a fine place for that.

Website Design and Development is a good forum for general questions, and the Break Room can be used for just about anything; don't worry, we look in here pretty often so you'll be heard.

For program bugs, it's often best to just mention the bug in the program's respective forum. Other users may have insight on that bug and our developers and other administrators may be able to help.

Hello David,

How does one configure and upload the Home Page in Visual Site Designer and then upload it successfully to Lunarpages.com's File Manager, and then publish it on the web? I've been at this hamster cage for 16 days now, and nobody has given me a straight answer. I'm sure there is a step by step list somewhere...

You have been asking the same question about uploading to lunarpages in several parts of this forum, all within a few minutes of each other. I know that there are CoffeeCup users with experience uploading to lunarpages, but this is a public forum. We come and go.
Please be patient, ask your questions and wait a bit for an answer. Posting the same question in 4 different places (or more) will only get confusing for those trying to help you.

Hi AMD,

I'll just send you the response I send to customers when they submit support tickets. Here are the step-by-step instructions for setting up VSD:

1. Click on Settings -> Internet Connection.

2. Click on the "Advanced" button in the lower left. Make sure there is a check by "Passive" here, and click OK.

3. Here you will need all the settings your web host gave you. They are described below.

FTP Server - Usually your domain name. Ex: whatever.com
Username - Your FTP username.
Password - Your FTP password.
WWW Folder - Your FTP public directory.

If you don't have any of this information, or are unsure about any of it, please contact your web host.

4. Once you have all your settings in this window, click the Save button and type a name you can recognize (this is just a nickname and has no affect on your ability to connect and upload). Click OK.

5. Now you can use the OK button to close this window, or you can use the Test button to test your connection.
