Spent a few evenings looking at the software for 'flip books' and impressed by many of them.

http://page-flip.com/ - is one i'm currently using because its HTML. Found it very easy, just add the jpg's you want (large and small), edit the HTML page and it does the rest.

Another good bit of software, only issue here is that you cant zoom in and out of pages. But to build a standard flip book it works very well and both are pretty cheap.

I didnt think flip books would take off but i've seen a lot of larger companies start to have them on their website. Much better than just a static long HTML page.

I have been using the flip flash album from goztun.com and people love the results. I spoke to them recently and I am told that they want to implement the zoom effect in their 2.0 version of the software, but no timeline on that. The good news is, you can make the book any size you want, so there may not be a need to zoon.

Yep also have Desktop Author.

Positives - Very powerful what it can do compared to the others mentioned, can create some great books.

Negatives - Needs its own plug-in to work.

I have done a couple of flip books myself.........and have included one in this little site
http://www.osteriaaicanottieri.com/fish-names.html
They are easy enough to build...... any size you want just by creating an image the size you want for the page size. I purchased the two or 3 files required to make them some time back........so I don't use a program as such, but just include the image files.... the swf.object and if I recall .... an .xml file to build them. Googling flip books found me what I needed.
The little site I mentioned in in need of a major overhaul as I see there are quite a few overlapping zones in the text which need attention..... so ignore all but the book!

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
