I'm very new to this forum so I hope you don't think I'm daft (ok ok I've left myself open to that one :P). Is there anyway you can get email notification of threads that your interested in?.

Hi Nigel,

You can subscribe to current threads, but they don't have a notifier on new threads. Welcome aboard!

Actually there is a notifier on new threads, the little chat bubble to the left of the forums names and threads turns Red to tell you it has new posts in a thread or if a thread is a new thread or not. You can also very easily see new posts by using the "Show New Posts" choice on the links to the right. I use that as my main way of navigating the forums for the most part.

Having said that I must tell you that this has quite a bit of bugs in this new post system.

Sometimes a thread gets stuck at the top and you can't get rid of it even if you've already read it.

Sometimes the red chat bubbles that say there are new posts get stuck on red and don't go away.

The fix for either of these is to go through all the unread posts that you're sure of and make sure you've read everything you plan to read. THEN hit the "Mark Everything Read" choice on the links to the right and say Yes and it will flush the system in a sense and resets all the read posts chat bubble colors to blue saying all are read and it will work for a while again till it gets stuck again lol.

It doesn't get stuck all too often, but it does happen. Happy Foruming and welcome nigel :)

I am going to have to say Jo Ann that this is another one of those "unique" issues to your system. I have never experienced anything like that before. Also, anything with a star will be stuck at the top. That is a feature ;)

Yes I understand the star thing when you're looking at the forums normally, but I hardly ever do that unless the forums mess up for me which has only happened a couple times for it not showing any new posts yet there were some. It's like it just up and hit the Mark Everything Read for me without me telling it to, so now I have to go through and find all the new ones manually lol. Dunno why that happened to me at all but it did it a couple times only so that's not too bad.

As far as the stars though, I never see that stuff unless it's something someone posted in as I always use the Show New Posts as my main page when I load the forums even, that's what I have bookmarked and what loads right away for me. So it's not the star things that are stuck at the top for me, it's just some random post that just won't let itself be set as read to me. Once I read it all and use the Mark Everything Read link it goes away. The issue with not marking things read though is there 100% of the time for me, no clue why at all. I just clear it out periodically and I pretty much ignore it since I only read the new posts anyways to start with.

Could be a browser issue, a theme issue (which I doubt as I don't theme Firefox all that often, and it happens when themed or not themed, happened with and without Windowblinds turned on at all also, and whether I have Windowblinds set to skin FF or not doesn't matter either.

No clue, just happens to me as everything else does I guess LOL.

Sounds like you are probably using your browser back and forward buttons instead of using the navigation. It is definitely another one of your "gremlins" looking for something to eat ;)

lol, oh I'm sure it's a gremlin, just not sure what flavor it is :P

not using back and forward at all actually. Each time I have read a post I then hit the Show New Posts button always to navigate to the next unread thread.

Yes Scott B5 does rock :P

I think it's just a matter of playing around with the features on here, it doesn't seem too difficult.

When you first start off something like this, there are so many interesting topics flying around it's hard to keep track.

I'm using Google Chrome Jo Ann, well I am this week ha ha.

I tried out Jo Ann's method ...which I didn't know existed ...and also had an issue with the red flags not clearing but if I just go through each forum one by one the flags clear back to blue.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.
