CoffeeCup Software vs Marriage

You have ample time to date a woman to find out if you are compatible. You discover what she can or can’t do, or if she is willing to ever do it. You see that there are and that she has strict limitations regarding your interaction with her but you marry her anyway hoping that some miracle will transform the “You want to do what??? I will never do that!!!” into “Okay baby, let’s try that”. When you find out that you can’t change her no matter how hard you try, you complain and tell her the problems in the relationship is all her fault, the honeymoon is over, and you want a divorce…

Sound familiar? :D
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

"Sound familiar?"

Not to me! I selected my wife because of the person she is, not what I hoped she would become. It's not for me to presume to change someone, nor do I expect that she would attempt to change me. Any changes we've made have been because of mutual interest and evolution of our personalities over time. (38 years to this point...)

Software's different. You buy it because of what it can do now, and hope that the programmers are keeping their eyes on the competition and their fingers on our collective pulse to be responsive to what we think we need. That's not a flesh-and-blood issue that destroys a relationship, it's business & economic reality. I like my CoffeeCup software and think they're a great company, but when someone produces something better for the right price, I gotta make the change.

It's far easier to divorce oneself from software that doesn't keep pace with one's needs, because it's a function of a team of visionary programmers on the cutting edge, not a 'sweet young thing in a short skirt'...

I don't know too much about marriage,
but I do know you can free upgrades with CoffeeCup software,
I haven't really heard that from anyone that's married. ;)

I don't know...my copy of marriage 1.0 was bug-ridden and nearly unusable, but when I upgraded to 2.0 things couldn't be better.

Indeed! I feel badly now that I didn't acknowledge that feat. Congratulations!
