Out of curiosity I just tried that out and I end up with an 'n' in the description too??

That's using XP Pro SP2. Guess it's just one of those little 'foibles'? I wonder if it does it with other programs out there too?

I notice that those reporting this issue are probably not on a US keyboard. Maybe there is something different with that keyboard.

The UK keyboards spell correctly. Colour with a U, tyre with a Y etc. :)

On the keyboard layout it is a full stop (period). Just tried it out with html editor and it outputs as a period in that ok.

I am not sure about the country. How would I go about looking for that?

The quirk seems to be independent of keyboard (country-) layout. I tried EN(US), PT and SW. Also, it does not seem to be related to the zero, but just to the period. It happens for me now whenever I use the period on the numeric pad anywhere under the tabs "shop home", "categories" and "view cart", - and for any language layout. I.e., when I press 'period', the result is "n." Weird! - This really must be a 'bug', - however unlikely that may be for a piece of CC software...!:/;)
(BTW: XP SP3 IE8, SCC3.5, Build 2357; OK, I know it's old, but I haven't been using it; only now out of curiosity because of the weird "n."-effect!)

Can anyone confirm that the "n." -effect is happening on the latest version of SCC?:/

Strange. No matter what combination I use, I never get what you are describing. I would say for now, just don't use that key ;)
