Hello.

I have just upgraded my HTML Editor from 2008 to the latest registered version. The Visual Editor tab has not appeared at all - only the 'Preview' tab appears. At the moment I can only work with code or not at all.

Please help! I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit OS.

I have read someone's enquiry about 'hiding' the Visual Editor but I have never done this. Is there some kind of default in the new version requiring me to have to enable it before I can see it?

The same problem exists in the latest Free HTML Editor - I have tried both versions.

If you go into your options you'll see a setting that you can choose what editor windows show. Also keep in mind that the Visual editor and the HTML editor don't play nice together, dunno what started the feud but they growl a lot when they try to work together lol. Basically use one or the other as switching between them changes the code with sometimes strange results.

Dear Jo Ann,

Many thanks for your reply.

I am at work at the moment on a short break, but I will check the options tonight when I'm back at home.

Kindest regards.

Doug.

Usually the visual tab is enabled by default so it is strange yours is not. You could also be finding that a DHTML component-related Windows update has broken the visual side of the editor, though if that was the case, I would expect you to get a warning on starting the editor that the visual tab will be disabled due to this conflict.

Jo Ann is correct that working on one then the other can cause strange results. Due to the way the visual side generates code, things may get scrambled if changing something on one side then changing something on the other. It is best, therefore, to use either one or the other. That said, if you use mainly visually-based editing over html coding, you would be better off with CoffeeCup's dedicated WYWIWYG editor, Visual Site Designer.

In html editor 2009 the visual editor tab does not display by default when you install.
Just go to the tools menu and from the drop down menu select "preferences"
There you will see options on the general tab under "initial documentsMode"
Here you can decide which editor tabs you wish to display. You can have any combination of
code editor
visual editor
preview
Hope this helps
