Rebuilding a Site using HTML Editor...

Two questions -

1) I am rebuilding my website - found out that the original, (http://www.hstrial-pdxhousekeepers.intu … index.html) currently on Intuit.com will cost me $20 a month once I switch to my own domain name.

I have copied the code of my site using CC's HTML Editor (the trial version) but the images and background shapes aren't showing up. I know next to nothing about coding... So I'm curious: If I purchase both the HTML Editor and the VSL software will I be able to use these in tandem to rebuild my site?

2) Also - I see that CC offers package deals on some of their software... What I need is the HTML editor, the Visual Designer and possibly the Flash Starter. Does CC offer any such package deal on these? Thanks.

Answer to your question No. 1:

You cannot switch back and forth between the html Editor and VSD. But some people say that they do the design in VSD and when that is done, they add the contents through the Editor.

The Editor in 'code mode' uses the code you put in, it doesn't add anything by itself.

The Editor also has a visual mode in which you can drag and drop items where you want them to appear. The code is added automatically by the prog. But it is not advisable to switch between the code mode and the visual mode.

The bottom line is: Stick to one programme.

Regarding question #2 you will have to ask CC directly.

Hi Shae -

I recently bought the whole 'package' as the consultant that developed my website using CC disappeared and left me hanging.

Fortunately, I have some knowledge of website development.

You can easily use CC HTMLEditor to capture the source of your pages and create asset folders for your images and whatever else you can tell is in the code pointing towards a folder.

If you have the CC Direct FTP program and know your host credentials you can easily download the whole site from the host server with this tool and open the pages up in HTML Editor and do your thing.

I'm still learning about all the tools and will now play with the VisualEditor to see how that goes and will provide an update here to help you and others with similar circumstances.

If you have any specific questions about how I was able to take ownership of my site - just ask!

Take care!
