Projects and default folder

Greetings,
I have a directory called CoffeCup_Projects where I store the various website projects. They are each in a folder (proto, dev, prod, etc) where the website structure is located and the associated .cpf file.

I have the "Default Websites Projects Folder" set to this same directory (CoffeCup_Projects).

When I open CC HTML editor what I see is this default folder and the website folders underneath. From there I can open and modify any of the website pages - all without actually opening the Project.

Am I using the default projects folder incorrectly?

Second, when I go to open a project (which should actually be listed in the "My Websites" screen instead of the folders) I must know which folder it's in.

What exactly is a project is used for and what are the advantages?

Hiya Phil,

I think you might find a lot more answers in the Help file of the HTML Editor rather than me typing it all here hehe. The Help files of most of the CC programs has some really nice PDF manuals and it does have a nice section that covers what the Projects system is all about and how it works. See if that might help and definitely post again if your answers are not in there :)

From my perspective - If it works for you, then you are doing fine :)

I use projects (from time to time) when I have several sites being worked on at one time (doesn't happen often enough around here). That way I can quickly move from one to another and know that all dependencies are being kept in their proper places.

There are probably so many people out there that are using it in very distinct and different manors.
