not using my default browser

I was wondering if there is any way to get CC to recognize my default browser. When I'm viewing a preview page from within the program and click on a link, it opens up a separate window in IE7, and Firefox is my default browser. They both work in the TEST in browsers mode, but not in the preview window.
Thanks

Hi Tim

It looks like that is always been hard coded into the software to use IE. I will see if this can be tweaked to use the true default browser.

I have installed the new HTML editor upgrade yesterday. There is no way of setting the default browser. Using CTRL F9 default browser opens up Firefox when I want IE9 as my default brower but can't get it. Note that IE9 is my default browser on Windows 7 professional on my PC. This makes the default browser facility of no use to me if one cannot configure it to the browser of my choice and not the software developer's choice.

Look under tools then preferences.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Under Tools>Preferences you can set up additional browsers in the 'Browser Testing' tab but not set the Default browser. All other tabs are not relevant for setting the default browser. There does not appear to be any facility in the HTML Editor for setting the Default Browser to one of your choice.

How many browsers do you have installed?

Hiya Norman,

Make sure your web pages are totally associated with IE if that's the one you want to use. Sometimes browsers change that on you when you install them. I had that issue when I first installed one of the versions a few back and had to re-setup my html files to be associated with the Firefox browser that I use as default. It might be the same issue you're having. Right click on one of your html files and make sure that IE shows up as the default program and that the image is IE and not FF.

Is this a trick question? Browser Wars :o. I use Chrome as my default. I set it as my default browser in settings. The Editor has nothing to do with it. just had a look at Firefox in Advanced settings the choice is there . In IE the adjustment is under programs. The Editor is innocent at least of this charge :) I rest my case.
Yes Just as I thought it has always been that way, Even Netscape used to put up a fight. I just ran through Opera, Firefox, IE and Chrome all opened in the default spot when set. Back to dear old Chrome my favourite.
I know the Editor seems to be set to IE as default but no one told the Browsers. Or it could be the hammer I keep on top of my computer that gives compliance

I just tried to see if the Editor will override Chrome but no. I think IE is used for Split screen I may be wrong there but it defiantly does not effect the default browser I set

But when I toggle external preview that probably is the IE engine being used , I notice a choice of 7,8,9

Did I have trouble getting rid of 9. Another story

Hi Jo Ann, Eric,
My html files are associated with IE 9 browser. Further the IE 9 32 bit browser is set to be the default browser. I normally run IE 9 64bit browser version as I have Windows 7 64 bit Professional (I am using 64 bit photo and video editing software). The Firefox browser "knows" it is not the default browser. I have also Safari, Opera and Google Chrome browsers installed on my computer - these too "know" they are not the default browser.

I am using HTML editor version 12.6 build 448.
The split screen facility opens a webpage in IE.
Test with the Default Browser <CTRL>F9 always opens the webpage in Firefox.

This HTML version does not appear to have any facility to set a default browser.
PRISM says that the default browser is set in 'Settings'. There is no such tab in Tools> Preferences : the only relevant tab is the 'Browser Testing' tab which allows you to set additional browsers.

So what do you advise please? Of course there is always a work-around : just stop using <CTRL>F9 faciltiy and use the additional browser tabs. I can set my favourite browser to IE9 <CTRL> F5 and use this as the Default Browser I suppose.

The Editor has nothing to do with it.
That is what I said.

I also explained that the default browser is set in the browser ie IE under programs Firefox Advanced settings. When you load a new Browser on your computer it usually asks if it can be the default.

Now to set the default browser. Open that browser you want as default go to tools, settings or options and find where it will say "Make this the default browser or words to that effect.

As long as I can remember from when Netscape and IE were battling it out, one or the other vied for the default status.

>>To find out which is the default Browser navigate in Windows explorer to a html file and double click it
The browser that opens is the default one. In other words defaults to this one. I would like to know even if proven wrong.

My default browser is Chrome by my choice when I hit CTRL F9 Chrome comes up as I would expect.
If I wanted IE to be my default I would change settings in IE

If IE is your default then it is hard to believe Firefox is opening. That is really strange Try the statement >> and see what that gives.
