HTML Editor a useless html editor -...

Further testing is showing that this is not working for me either.

The tab moves erratic if I have not typed characters before tabbing.

And the tab only moves the length of the number of characters I typed before hitting the space and tab keys. So if I type ten characters and then hit space and tab, the tab moves ten spaces, and if I type one character and hit space and tab, the tab moves one space.

So, it's not working but I can live with it. And I do use Win7 64 bit, though.

It seems that the "Smart tab" option is not so smart. Unchecking this option it seems that it is working as expected.

My configuration is:

* Smart tabs: Unchecked.
* Block indent step size: 4
* Tab columns: unfilled
* Tab stop: 4

psshtml,

Isn't it a bit extreme to label the product "a useless html editor" simply because you experience erratic behavior when you use the tab button? Is that preventing you from using it for editing? Are tabs that important in your code? Tabbing increases the page size anyway. Come on, "useless?" Lighten up a bit.
Let's not get all hurt.

I have to agree with Dave here. If the tab settings is the only problem you have with the html editor, and everything else is working, you should be happy.

My settings are the default ones, and my tabs are working without any problems, but I don't have a Dell laptop, though.

Making sweeping statements like, "HTML Editor a useless html editor" is very unfair... there are people out there who will read it and believe it simply because it's in print... but long time users know that it NOT true. If everyone could replicate your issue and it actually messed with your code, then it'd be a big issue. I've yet to come across a piece of software that is 100% rock solid, never falls over, does exactly what it says on the box... at least the CC boys had a look and responded... try soliciting a similar response from the supposed "industry standard" software houses.

I am not here for this thread and not to gang up on psshtml, but really.
Lets be truthful here.. I use the CoffeeCup HTML editor for lots of things.. such as
Editing all those Drupal php files(finding one line of code in a huge stack of folders is a breeze), editng and creating css files, keeping all my snippets for easy recall, checking my spelling in all kinds of documents, creating neat signatures for my email.. Just to name a few daily uses....

It really is a great editor ! Just try some of the other ones and you will find out real quick.

Sorry people, just had to stick up for my favorite software. I will crawl back in my cave now..

As only a casual user of CC HTML Editor, but a software junkie from way back, I can't think another application that provides so much functionality for so little money. Besides the functionality, it is stable, user-friendly, has an attractive user interface, and is well supported by the developer and this user community - all for $49. Come on! Some people don't WANT to be happy.

I don't know how anyone can call the html editor useless. I have worse problems with it than a few issues with tabs. I still however see coffeecups editor as the best I've tried and I've tried Pagebreeze, Komposer, Dreamweaver, Alleycode (although I thought it was decent editor) and others. For £30 quid you can't ask for more, with the amount of features it has it's pure class.

I tried to contact psshtml directly multiple times with no reply. I think his only intention was to create a post that stirred up things.

*wishes people would stop reviving this troublemaker's post as that's most likely his intention to keep it at the top of the list so it's seen more often* :P
