Hi Guys

I initially installed my registered version of the editor on lets say computer (puter) A ... and now have a new puter ...
How do I get the program off the original puter and install it on the new puter ???

The file transfer option that IS available on the new puter does not work because the original puter runs W/98 and I now have W/Vista Home Premium .

Thanks in advance for any help provided .

I have many created files in the program and need to get it all over to the new puter .

I downloaded the newer version of the program to the new puter ,However, that does not help at this point becuse I need all of the many many created files in it and all that is still in the originsl version on the old / original puter.

Thank .

Just copy your files onto a memory stick, transfer your stick to your new computer and restore files from the stickonto your new computer.

Hiya Need2Know,

You should also be sure to check both your program files\coffeecup directory and your documents\coffeecup directory for your files. The program files will sometimes save things in there such as themes for your programs (mostly all you would need is anything that is altered by you, if it's standard stuff in the program files\coffeecup directory then you don't really need that since it will be installed with the new program(s).

In the documents\coffeecup directory is usually where most of your files are saved unless you have told them to save elsewhere. Be sure to get everything you use such as images, html, css, etc. that was put into that folder. You can use any standard Flash Drive to transfer things and that should work great.

Good luck on it and enjoy the new puter! :D

Thanks a Bunch - Butler and Jo Ann ...

The original puter ... puter A is an old dell ( about 13 years old or maybe a tadbit older ) and runs W/98 , theres no place for a memory stick ... at least I dont think there is ...?...Hmmm ?
Just thought about something that struck me as funny ... This thing ( the dell) has an A Drive for the floppy's... Remember those ...LOL.

New puter is an HP media center PC and is equipped with all the goodies.

hiya Need2KNow,

Does the old puter have any USB slots at all? If so then you should be able to use a flash drive to copy things on to. If not, does it have a CD burner? If not, then you may be stuck doing one of 2 things, either trying to copy what you have onto the floppy drive, which isn't a good option since they don't fit much on them (you would need to compress them with a zip program of some sort to get any use out of it at all that way). Or you could opt to try connecting that drive as a slave drive, providing the new computer would be able to read it at all with the other windows version being installed on it, not sure on that part.

If none of those work, then I would suggest you upload your files to your server or an online place if you can, and then just download them on the new computer, that usually works pretty good. Another option would be to email them to yourself so you can download them on the new puter via email.

Hi Need2Know
If your old PC is 13 plus years old and no USB port or CD drive.
The best way would be to purchase CC Direct FTP if you do not have already.
Then you can save your files from your old PC onto a server then download onto your new PC.
Your A drive floppy only holds approx 1.2M if my memory is correct (ages since I used one)

Yeah, I seem to remember that the USB1 slots came with Win98Se... I have one or two lying about of those USB1 thingies to be built in.

Take the upload option instead of mailing to yourself. If you have a lot of files to be transferred, they might overfill your mail quota on the server.

Also, in the old days we had something called Laplink to transfer files from one puter to another. The cable used to be connected to serial or parallel ports. But those ports also seem to have been taken away on new machines.
Ha en riktig god dag!
