Do the files need to end in html?

I'm re-doing a site that has most of the file extensions as htm rather than html and I would prefer to keep the file names the same as those pages are already out there on search engines.

Will it work if I keep the htm extension or do all the files need to end in html?

they'll work fine tassie no problem, just as long as you remember to make the links correctly if you reference them. :)

Excellent! Thanks Jo Ann.

I've been proceeding with the htm extension so I'm so pleased I don't have to change all the links. Makes life much easier.

Hi Tassietiger
I too can confirm html editor handles htm files OK. I have a site created originaly with frontpage which generated htm files. I have been able to edit many of these files a number of times with no problem.
No need to convert.

Yes, it will still work. You can use either htm or html.:D

Just for future reference, there really isn't a whole lot of difference between the 2, and HTML is the newer way to do things is all. You shouldn't have any problems at all with either one though. Happy htm-ing :P

I wasn't sure if the program would throw a hissy fit if I used the htm extension or try and convert back to the html extension so its good to know that it accepts it nicely :)

yep and not only will it accept it nicely you can rename them back and forth without any repercussions also so if you ever decide you want to rename them one way or the other so they are all consistent no problem there :)

Yes I use .html by default, just old habits, but one of the best things about HTML editor is how easy it is to open files and save files as new names and duplicate pages. I have used quite a few editors over the years, but still feel most comfortable with this one.
