Is there a way to create a component and then share it with another user? or import a component that someone else has made?

I tried looking in the Library > Components directory and see all the default components but don't see any of the new components that I've saved/created myself.

Thanks for any help!

Poking around like that will get you into trouble. ;)

User components are locked to your CoffeeCup user account. However all you need to do here for this situation is save your component to a blank project and then give that project to someone else. They can then make their own component from it.

Haha I'm good at getting in trouble apparently!

OK, that's a good tip on the component. Thanks Scott!

What Scott says is exactly what I have been doing over the last couple of months: http://horgenhonning.net/sharing/

I'm still missing something...I get how I can get the files from Ingers site...
for example...lets say I download one of the FF or RSD files...
How do I then take, for instance, the menu from the project and put it into my components. Do I have to save it as another file type?

thanks,
MJ

Select the Row that the navigation is in and then go to the Content > Components area. Next, click Create Component from Selection. Now give it a name and description and then click icon with the square and up arrow to add it to your Components Library.

This is also covered in that pesky documentation. ;)

Just found this thread dealing with the same issue.

When I click the square with the arrow to add it to my components library a pop up comes up telling me in order to export a component I must log in. I've never seen where it's possible to sign into the program but I am signed into my account. When I click the log in button on the pop up it takes me to a settings box with no where to log in.

Not sure what is going on or how I can save the component.

Thanks Jon

Hi Jonathan,
I thought you were using Site Designer 3.5, but now you are posting in the Foundation Framer thread ? Also, this need for logging in to fetch or save a component has allegedly been removed, as far as I know. But if you still get that log-in warning, please go to my sharing folder (you have been there before, URL in my signature), and find in the text (before all the building blocks) where it says 'How to create a component?' . Click on the link and download the document. I have explained this thing about logging in.

Ha en riktig god dag!

Yes I am getting the log in issue.

I'll check out your file.
