VSD 5.9. Put thumbnails on page and link them to regular size jpeg images. Preview won't open them. Says "Windows cannot open this file. To open this file windows needs to know what program created it.Windows can go online and look it up automatically or you can manually select from a list on your computer. These are the same pictures I used with my original VSD, but they don't work (in preview mode) with VSD 5.9. What seems to be the problem?

It seems during the preview, the paths to the images linked haven't changed from a local path (ex. c:\pictures\image.jpg) to a relative path used for the site (ex. /pictures/image.jpg). What happens then, is Windows tries to load the associated program to view the jpeg files rather that loading them as part of the website. It will work correctly online when you upload the site (just not in preview). I'm not sure if it's always been like this in previous versions though. I'll try and get some attention on the topic. ;)

Try using your default browser to preview and see if that helps any.

You forced me to use IE over Firefox. How could you?! :P
Ok, so it will preview correctly for me in IE7 and the built-in browser.
Hovering over the link to the image in IE7, I get the following target:
file:///C:/Users/Adam/Pictures/image.jpg
In Firefox 2.0.0.14, I get the following target:
c:\Users\Adam\Pictures\image.jpg
Why do I get the feeling the suggestion will be to make IE the default? http://www.coffeecuphelp.com/adam/images/emoticons/crying.gif I think I'll sooner use the built-in preview. ;)
