The H1 H2 tag question Google verification and those inevitable emails
offering to get you first page or first position ranking.

If your website (LIKE ALL OF MINE) were developed with CC VSD wysiwyg your going to get someone sometime telling you your H1 H2 and so on tags are missing, and you wont get found by google without them.

Moreover there's possibly an assumption that as they are missing you don't know what your doing with website design, so your an easy target for a so called SEO company to extract some cash from you.

Here's my view on the matter (just my opinion) in VSD you have inbuilt the ability to get your content found by search engines, after all CC design programs not websites if they didn't work they would have failed long before now.

Lets take one page from a typical website for a solicitor company trying to attract local clients for conveyancing and divorce (two solicitors one specialising in divorce, the other conveyancing)

Having developed all the relevant pages in a normal manner, lets add a new page specifically for conveyancing.

Firstly the main url is hopefully something like jericsonsolicitor.co.uk (john Ericson Solicitors Uxbridge Middx)

So lets add a new page with add page tool SELECT DUPLICATE HOME PAGE and give it the PAGE ID of :: conveyancing :: jericsonsolicitor.co.uk/conveyancing.html

And a page title of :: Synthia Ericson Uxbridge specialising in conveyancing for residential and commercial property THEN CLICK OK AND SAVE IT

From the top left of VSD select ::EDIT > EDIT KEY WORDS AND DESCRIPTION and copy the title in there as the description.

Now in the keywords put something like synthia,john,ericson,conveyancing,purchasing,solicitor,in,uxbridge,middx,middlesex,ub8,legal,aid,residential,house,houses,commercial,business,premises, & a list of other very local towns,.....,.......,...........,

Select :: APPLY TO CURRENT PAGE, and close.

Now delete the unnecessary content and replace with content that is specific to this service, emphasising that Synthia Ericson who is based in Uxbridge Middlesex and specialises in conveyancing for both the purchasing of residential homes and commercial premises, has 10 years experience in this field, but also within the company you cover various other legal matters including Mr.John Ericson who specialises in divorce. and mention you travel to surrounding areas in the course of business including towns, towns, towns, postcode.

Google, yahoo etc now have a nice neat trail to follow from a url with solicitor within, a url extension with conveyancing in it, keywords that match and a description which when it appears in a google search will be enticing detailed and specific to a local location and conveyancing & solicitor (who wants to travel to london for a house in Uxbridge 20 miles away)

If every page in your website follows something similar in design and structure, the addition of a CC google sitemap will tack it all nicely together

Then go to your google webmaster tools (google it) and give them the address of the main url, and verify your site with an html code they will provide you

In VSD with the HOME PAGE open go to EDIT > EDIT HEADER and put the code google and yahoo provide and save it OR do as i do and use the html tool, drag two narrow boxes 1/2 page width and put google code in one, and yahoo code in the other (WYSIWYG) so now you can see where it is , makes it simpler for me.

In short somewhere in amongst all of that VSD has automatically provided google everything it wants with not a solitary head scratching moment trying to work out what a H1 tag is or where to put a H2 tag, or even what it does.

There is no guarantee google will give you no.1 ranking or even no.20 but as a non technical DIY website designer doing your own website for your own business, the chances are someone in Uxbridge Middlesex typing into google, solicitor for conveyancing in uxbridge middlesex may find your site with a google page result that will entice them to click on it

This is far better than a google search resulting in ::grobbleandcompany.com/page4.html with a page title of :: home page grobble and company and content saying :: come to grobble and company for all your legal requirement at competitive rates lls affiliated, 30 years in law.

Well renowned in the forum for my refusal to attempt any code, and i dont know what CMS stands for, or why one might need a database or what one is anyway, I do understand that a website is useless if it is not found by search engines. As a result I have spent an inordinate amount of time tweaking a few websites of my own, and the above is the result of not hours or days but probably months of work.

Search for :: wedding cars or executive cars in Chalfont , Moorpark , Rickmansworth,

OR :: Photographer in Pinner

OR :: lengthen a narrowboat

OR :: 9ct signet rings

Then look in my signature for corresponding url's + look for boatstretch.co.uk & handmade-by-me.co.uk

My friendly technical programming genius, hates me for this he cannot understand how i develop websites with no technical know how, get them found by google, and my jewellery website is my only source of income

Last but not least, in your browser go to your home page, right click in a corner, and hopefully you will get a drop down menu with VIEW PAGE SOURCE,,,, click on this it will open in a new window.

Now you should see what google is looking for, something like this ::

Now you have done about all any amateur can do, so sit back, have a glass of wine, and make sure you have logged out of your Google account & webmasters tools .. in about a month or three start searching might take longer but when it starts appearing you can start tweaking ...
