I am so confused and frustrated. Even more so because I have to get this done right away. I liked the download trial. So I purchased the entire suite. It appears I am going to be responsible for redesigning our school's website. Which I am fine with I am just under an extreme deadline.

I like the WYSIWYG editor so

1. I just want to go to someone else's website and copy their HTML and make changes and add my own information is this feasible?

2. When I try to copy HTML from our old website (GOLIVE)which I have no idea how to use... it keeps giving me a message about adding a file but I don't understand where I am supposed to save the HTML code copied? In the root folder? I know how to right click and copy the source code...then what...?

3. On my home page I have a principal's message button why can't I click on the button for say Principal's message and it take me to another page? Do I have to make another page?

3. The template only gives you a start page it doesn't give additional pages? Is this available? For example, do you have a template for a six or ten page website where I can just add text (like in powerpoint).

4. Do you have school templates?

5. Is there a button maker or how do I add buttons.

6. can someone explain how I am supposed to save second pages...truthfully I really don't get the tree method.

Thank you.

Hi, have you got a name?

First of all, you can't copy some website and make it open in VSD. If you have the html Editor, you can, though.

I can't help you with Go Live, you have to search for a users forum at Adobe. But if you copy code, you have to paste it into a new page (in HTML Editor) and save it in your 'working' folder. Then you can change text, colours etc. The opening page of your school site has to be named index.html.

VSD comes with templates that have 3 or 4 sub-pages. You can copy a button and give it a new name, like 'Principal's page' or whatever, but you have to add a page, yes. That is done by clicking the 'Add page' button in the horizontal tool bar.

I don't think there are school templates among the ones in VSD. But maybe you find something you can use and just change the button names.

You can create buttons in VSD from some text or an image. If you use a template, the best way is to copy an existing button and add it to the menu, give it the name you want and make it point to the page you want to navigate to. You'll see a little 'Object window' that changes according to what you are doing, and when you have a button, you'll see options for linking the button to a page.

You don't save single pages, you save the whole project. The new pages will then be saved and given a name by VSD.

I would strongly advise you to read the manual that you find under 'Help'. It explains the ins and outs of the programme.

Let us know whether you want text links or button links. If you are using one of the built-in templates, let us know which one. Then we'll see if we can get you up and running.

I must say, Bruce's video was pretty good and explanatory, BTW.

I used this one.

At Page title it says Min hjemmeside
and at Page Identification...I have Page 10

This is what I have done..
I have created a folder with all pages, pictures, html everything.

all my pages are numbered because I dont know how to link
the original page is called index.html. and I need to add a flash to the index.html because I created one in the flash software it is called untitled.fre and it has an owl clip art called owl3.png... I HAVE NO IDEA
Then...many of the pages if you click on them are in internet explorer format...they open as webpages..I dont know...

I used the photo compressor for my photos but i deleted a lot of them because they were grainy...so I have a photo gallery to add as well

I teach elementary children all day so it is very difficult for me to take complicated or changes in directions. The video had some mistakes and the web designer said...oh I forgot this and oh I forgot that...ok that loses me. Because I give very simple short directions ALL day..my brain is trained...so yes, it the video may have seemed easy to you but for me...the correcting threw me off

I just need simple direct instructions on how to link the pages.
How to add word documents to a page (is that as text?).
I will be using lunar to upload to a district server.
I could upload directly to the district's server but I have been told by others it is iffy and just use a free host site

is this feasible? Can I upload to a host then give that link to my district server?

I am going to bed..I have been working on this since...this morning...most of my pages are complete! Yaay! I just need help with various technicalities.

THANK YOU!!! LOL! It is very overwhelming. I am so glad I did my research and purchased a WYSIWYG ...Dreamweaver is on the computer I amworking on..there is no way..

The template 'specifications' you have given is just for the page you are working on. When you chose the template, you had three categories; Business, Classic and Private, and in each cathergory there were named templates, except for Classic, where they are numbered (Design 1 - 12). Which cathegory and which template did you choose?

Since you get a page title like 'Min hjemmeside', do you have a Danish or Norwegian system on your computer? If you are a Scandinavian, feel free to mail me and we can deal with this in our own language.

Don't worry about the scroll bars. They will come by themselves when the page gets longer than what your monitor can fit into the screen.

You can of course link to a Word document, but if you are able to make a table in the HTML Editor, you can import it to VSD using the html tool.

We'll deal with the various flashes and photo albums when we have done the basics.

As for teaching in elementary school, I've been doing that for 35 odd years, but it hasn't affected my ability of giving or taking instructions when NOT dealing with my pupils. ;)

Hi, just adding my 2 cents,
some of the Templates are named "Min hjemmeside" by default, they can be renamed whatever you wished and saved,

TO MAKE A LINK= in the template your using right click on the link you wish to copy and select copy, do that again and select paste, the link will be copied over the original just drag that link down and rename it by selecting the object tab in the horizontal menu, click on the button text tab and write the name you wish to name that link. now you can add this link to every page you wish to have it on after you made your changes and postioned it where you want it, just right click the link again and seect copy, now go to the page you want this link on and right click paste.

ADD A PAGE=Just click on add page, a wndow will pop up such as one below:
http://kellyinfo.com/web/addp.jpg
your page you want to copy is chosen here (see diagram) and then you can remove alter anything in it using VSD. hope this helps a little

Hi Bruce:

Thank you. I have Inger looking at the webpage. I zipped him the file. Hopefully, I can now learn how to add the flash I created as well as the animation. I have everything pretty down now I think. I just now do not understand how to add the actual coding and where to put the file?

My page is pretty complete. I am going to host with Lunar.
Thank you for your help!
