Well, we've had a busy few weeks here making sure that we've addressed all the issues brought up by some of you over the past few weeks. We want to thank everyone for their patience!

Issues addressed:
  • When you copy and paste an object to a new page, the original X/Y coordinates are preserved.
  • Readded support for bitmaps.
  • Improved website display between VSD and preview.
  • Fixed 96DPI issue alert.
  • Added support for more non-English character sets.
  • Correct some issues with mouseovers.
  • Corrected issues with underline link options.
  • Corrected issues with links when migrating from version 6 to 7.

We have also created a few new articles that everyone should read so they have a better understanding of how things work "under the hood," so to speak.

Updating to the latest version:
Under 99.9% of circumstances all you need to do is install the latest version of Visual Site Designer, open your website, and upload your work. The software will automatically take care of everything. If by some chance you do run into any problems, please open a support ticket and tell us what happened. Even though we're closed, we'll still be monitoring support during the holiday.

Registered users can download their free update here at http://www.coffeecup.com/help/myorders

If you would like to give the latest trial version a test run, you can download a 21 day trial here at http://www.coffeecup.com/designer

Enjoy!

Thanks!

Just out of curiosity - I see this announced here, but if I did not come here, how would I have found out about the upgrade? I did not get an email about the fix upgrade.

Typically we do not send e-mails out when there are upgrades to an already announced program. The best way to know when an update is available is to go to https://www.coffeecup.com/help/myproducts/ or subscribe to our RSS feed at http://www.coffeecup.com/software/feed/

Well, I downloaded it and the first thing I did was to go to one of my web pages that still had the text movement issue to where the text was moving to the right of where I wanted it. All I did is publish the page and it corrected that situation right away. Upgrade 1, old bugs 0.

Hello,

For the last while, every time I go to open coffe cup to work on my site I get a windows message saying that "Visual Site Designer has stopped working" and coffee cup won't open. I end up re-downloading it and then the program will open and appears to work fine. However it is frustrating that this happens. It only started happening in the last month or so. Any ideas?

This can happen even if you are running as an Administrator, and it is caused by Windows very strict security settings.

To fix this, right-click your Visual Site Designer shortcut icon and select Run as Administrator. This should properly launch Visual Site Designer for you. If it does, great! You can continue to launch the program in this way, or you can go a step further and configure the shortcut to always run as administrator. Here's how:

1. Right-click the shortcut icon, and click Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Here, put a check mark by Run This Program as an Administrator.
4. Next, put a check mark next to Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For: and ensure Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 is selected.
5. Click OK.

If you continue having problems you may also need to set the application as an exception to Windows Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature. Normally if this is the culprit, you'll get a little bubble along the taskbar notifying you, which will allow you to set the offender as an exception.

One last option that could be the cause of this, and related to the DEP feature, is User Account Controls. This is the large window that appears in Vista asking you to "Allow" or "Deny" access to functions within programs. You can turn this off within your Control Panel > User Accounts window, along the left-hand pane.

All three options let you control your system exactly how you want and give you full access to do/run anything on the computer.
