Virtual Site Designer FTP & Go Daddy

I am trying to get the FTP setup to our Go Daddy hosting account on the Virtual Site Designer. When I put in the password required (One Capital Letter, One Number, One Special Character, with a minimum of 8 characters), the Virtual Site Designer will not accept the Go Daddy FTP password because of the Special Character. Is there a way around this without using the Direct FTP?

If 'special character' can be an upper case letter, you may find help here: http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … -designer/

BTW, it's VISUAL Site Designer, not 'virtual'.

Sorry about that - in Visual Site Designer it will not accept a Special Character / in the password. GoDaddy requires that special character when the Visual Site Designer's FTP does not accept any special characters.

Also, Go Daddy says that a Password must contain only ascii characters.

This is the error message from the Visual Site Designer - its attached.

Is this something new with GoDaddy? Did you recently set up the account? I have GD and never heard the requirement of a special character. Can you post your fix to this in case others run into this problem?

Oscar, according to the error you posted, should / be allowed. Best bet is to contact CC support.

Can I upload a 6 page document to my hosting server and then simply put a link on my website that will link people to this document for viewing? I would prefer this to actually typing in this long document right on my web page. Thanks.

Hiya Aunty,

Is this document in PDF or is it an image or what format is it in?
You would need to include links to each of the pages unless you plan to make them all one long page which you could do if you have the right site structure if they are images or something similar.

If they are in PDF form or forms where they are actually text, then you'd need to include a link for each of the pages, but in theory by doing this, yes you can include links to the pages.

If it's a PDF you'll only need one link to the file and it should open in the browser for the user.:)
