Hi, I am having a problem viewing my photo in VSD on on my Domain. I have created them in Photo Gallery, previewed them, and they are OK. I uploaded the HTML,SWF, XML files, copied the HTML, and created a page in my VSD to place the copied HTML code into. I Saved my VSD, went to Add files in the Setting section, added the Image Files and HTML,SWF,XML files and again uploaded everything. I checked my Domain and all the files are there, the images are in their own folders and the HTML,SWF,XML files are in the Root and Public dirctory. When I try to preview through VSD I get the screen picture with thumbprints, but no pictures. The same applies when I access my web page on my domain. I really don't know what else to do, can anyone suggest anything? Thanks, Jackie

Web site: WWW.jacquelineengland.com Problem is in the Gallery section using the link to Equin, Wildlife & Commission.

idan2,

I played around and got the wildlife to show. The image of the four sets of cat eyes is interesting. The URL to that file is http://www.jacquelineengland.com/wildli … fixed1.jpg and it shows nicely. The other wildlife photos are also in the wildlife_files folder.

I cannot get the http://www.jacquelineengland.com/commis … sample.jpg or http://www.jacquelineengland.com/commis … hound5.jpg to show. Are you sure you have the commissions_files folder with all the files that belong inside that folder?

http://www.jacquelineengland.com/myalbu … nation.jpg does not show. Do you have the myalbum_files folder with all the files that belong inside that folder?

Hope this helps you get the photos showing.

Hi Bill, wonderful, I had placed the wildlife images in the Public.html and an experiment, but it did not seem to work, so I did not place the other ones there as well. I have now placed all of my images files in the Public.HTML directory. and they work. You must have the magic touch!!! Many thanks after days of trying, I finally can move on. Thanks, again, Jackie

PS. Image of the "Cats" is called "Windows of the Soul" and is a Graphite and Watercolour painting. Thanks, very much for your compliments. Jackie

PPS: Just another note, the pics are displaying perfectly on my domain, but they will not display on my preview in VSD, is there something that you did to get them to display on the domain, that I should be doing on my local pc?

When you display things on your computer, they must be in the same relationship as they are on the web.

Basically, your computer folder where your home page is located will need to have everything there exactly as it is on the internet.

Since the photo gallery is flash, you will need to have flash installed on your computer as well, and I am not sure if the display in VSD will work with flash. Is there an option to observe via a browser? If not, open a window on your computer (I right click start, and select explore) then navigate to your home page, and see what happens when you double click that file. If it does not open with a web browser, try right clicking on that file and select open with and see what happens when you open with Internet Explorer.

Hope all this makes sense.

Hi Bill, I have checked my directory on my PC and all my HTML,SWF,XML files are under my Personal Web page directory. The Images for these files are in separate folders, also in this directory. eg. Commissions, MyAlbum,Wildlife are image files within my Personal Web page directory. I checked the HTML files and the pictures display from here, but not through preview in VSD.

Is this the way they should be? Thanks, Jackie

I would have sent you a screen image of the directory, but I don't know how to past it into this forum.

I don't have VSD installed here, so I cannot check it, but if opening the html files with the browser works, then it should work on the web provided the files are in the correct locations and visitors to you site can access the files.

Have you uploaded all the files to the web? You may want to do it again, since sometimes there are web glitches that cause files to not upload/download.

Then test again, and if things are still not working check the file locations using an FTP program such as the CoffeeCup free FTP program.

Since you mentioned screen images: One way to create a screen image is to press the print screen button on your keyboard. Then open a graphics program such as MS Paint (I use GIMP), and paste the image into the program. Now you can eliminate all the extras on the screen and just have what you want to show. Save the file as a jpeg file (it will likely be much smaller). Upload the file to a website. Now you can use the image tag here to display the image. The image tag starts with [ and img followed by the href location. For instructions on using the various BBCode commands, just look below this message just above the quick post submit button.

Let us know what happens.

Hi Bill, the web portion works fine now after you looked at it. Its my PC version that does not work. VSD will not preview the application. Would or anyone else happen to know if Vista would be blocking something someway. I have downloaded the latest copy of Flash so I think it is OK. But VSD refuses to preview my files. I have checked the library where they are resident, and the appear to all be there and OK. When I access the HTML files in this library, it shows my images. It seems as though Vista has something turned on, that inhibits my ability to see them. Thanks, Jackie

Have you tried to right click the program and choose "run as administrator"?
Only other thing I can think of is to make sure to back up your files, uninstall VSD, get a fresh download from CoffeeCup....restart your computer (very important) ..instal the program after the restart.

Try it out and see if it works better. The first time you launch VSD, do the right click choose "run as administrator" thing. Might make it play nice with Vista.

Hi Cliff, I do run as administrator, as it VSD will not work unless I do. I will take your advise and try reinstalling it and see what happens. Thanks, Jackie

Hi Cliff, I did as you suggested, removed existing VSD and installed a new one. It still does not work. However, I did manage to get an error message during Preview which said"
.../.../appdata/temp/vsd_tempdir/mayalbum_files_/Horses_f16_001_(1)_1.jpg was not found" (This is one of my photos.) I have no such directory/folders on my computer, I assume one should be created at time of saving prior to preview and this is not happening???? Does this mean anything to you? Thanks, Jackie
