What is the name of your original image? Front.jpg or Front.JPG .;) I'm wondering if you changed it at sometime from one to the other so now VSD is confused. I would make sure it's named Front.jpg and re add it to the page and republish.:) locally windows won't see the difference during the preview but a browser on the web will.

Neither - it's Front.JPG

I noticed that while uploading the image box highlights, don't know if that means anything or not.

Case is important. For example; Front.jpg is different from front.jpg, which is different from front.JPG. When naming files, it's best to stick to one style for all image names. All lower case (with no spaces or characters) will keep you out of trouble.

Have you tried re-inserting your original file yet? Before you do, go into your VSD Files folder and get rid of any other versions of that image (no matter what they're called), so there won't be any confusion.

There is only 1 version of that image and 1 name. I'll rename w/ all lower case and see what happens.

As I recall, I finally just gave up and my site was not updated for 2 years. Trying again w/ same lousy results.
I just did a test where I inserted a new photo w/ the filename Oliver/FRONTN; but when I preview it I get washington/frontn instead. Why on earth would that happen?

Don't worry about VSD's handling of images. Build your site and hit publish and sit back and enjoy your work.

Oliver/FRONTN <<< if that's the actual file name, you need to get rid of the /. Use a dash instead:
oliver-front-n.jpg (and stick to all lowercase rather than mixing cases).
If the browser's confused by Oliver/FRONTN, it might be offering up the other photo because frontn.jpg is the closest image name that makes sense to it.

From within VSD, I would delete anything that's not working, check the image names in your files (not VSD's file folder), change any that aren't proper (spaces, mixed cases, symbols...) and then re-insert them. You can also go to Edit>Remove Files in VSD and get rid of problem images so there won't be any confusion on the server.
Try re-publishing after that and see if everything's in order.

Eric, I've built my site and just spent an hour or so making updates. I'm always going to preview before publishing and based on the preview, I'm not enjoying my work.

I wasn't being specific before. The actual 2 files are:

C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\Houseworx\WASHINGTON\Afters\frontn
and
C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\Houseworx\OLIVER\Photos-renderings\AFTERS\FRONTN

seem pretty distinct

Try this. Add a folder to your Documents\CoffeeCup Software\Visual Site Designer\ and name it something like mywebsitefiles or what ever you want.
Now copy and paste any files and or images to this folder before you add them to your site. Now when you want to add the files to your page browse to this custom folder. This helps eliminate the possibility of accidentally deleting important files for your site.

Created a photos folder in VSD, copied the above Oliver photo to it, added it to my site, saved, previewed, and it once again inserted the erroneous Washington photo.

Paintbrush, does the entire file string have to be all lowercase or just the last part? Coffee Cup, Microsoft, et al all mix cases in file names.
