Image background and object shadow...

I have a web site where I want an image as a backgrund (blue sky + clouds). Easy to do;
Page Properties/Page Backgrund=Image
Settings/Background Fill Properties=Continue the page background fill

Nice! But I also use "text boxes" with a shadow effect. They work OK when the background is solid color, but with the settings as above, they do not look OK! See the attached picture of the result. There is a "frame" around the box that ruins the shadow effect...?
How can I get around this? I have tried to tick the "Position" box in Page Bakground. The shadow looks OK but the Page bakground fill does not work - there are two images (basically the same image source) but they are not "synchronised" in position.

I've had the same problem. Now, this is just me, but I create my 'text' box in another graphics program (with the shadow) then simply load the image into VSD and add the text over it.

Might be a better way. . .

Try putting a little more distance between the objects.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Distance isn't the problem. With just 1 box and nothing else on the screen the problem occurs. The problem is that once you add an 'effect' in VSD it creates the graphic with the background, but shifts it slightly. Always has been this way. That's why I create my effects outside of VSD then add them to the site.

Unless you are going to use a 'solid' background. :P

No need to use another app. I have a bunch of pages on my site with the exact same setup with shadow on element over the top of background image..

It's usually items to close to each other. I would like to see their actual page. I have been able to correct it when it happens by removing the item and redoing it with different effect settings.

I have had problems in the past with the shape picking up the background around the shadow if I copied and pasted it. It would look just like the above example.
But I just tried it with a .JPG image for the background, it looks fine. I also copied and pasted my test shapes to the same page and another page and the shadow was OK, just like on the original shape.
A few questions:
Are you using the latest version of VSD? Is your background a .JPG or a .PNG? Also, did you try adjusting the shadow settings? (distance-softness-opacity)

Using latest VSD. Background is a .jpg (repeating). Yes, tried adjusting the settings.

And as I was typing and trying things out, I found the problem!
The repeating background!!

If you use a single image as the background the shadow effect works perfectly normal. Interesting!:/

So, to answer the original question here, simply find a background you like that fills the whole screen, and use it. Works great.

Eric has a cool way to fill the entire screen with a background.
