The system log on your computer, or are you referring to a log that is created on your server during upload?

Doesn't it create a system log? I thought I saw one? Maybe that was some other type of log.

Not for VSD just yet. Some of our newer programs like Direct FTP and Shopping Cart Creator have this logging. Version 6.1 when it is released will also have it as well.

One thing I do with VSD is when I make a major change to a website, I add a version to the file name, ie., mysite-v2-07-10, etc.

That is an internal reference file that compares the local and remote files so it knows what to upload. It isn't readable outside of the software.
