How and where do I start?

Of course the begining is a good place.

Are there any tutorials that can hold my hand in the begining of the learning process?

I would like to see the help begin with "start the program".

I guess I am looking for a philosophy a layout or purpose.

i.e. What is the very first thing I should do when I start the program... what is the second thing... the third............?

Sorry for being an air head, but I am a quick study. I just need a slight push in the right direction.

Thanks,
Pilgrim

First I would go through all of coffeecup's tutorials to see which products i wish to use for my site, and that way you'll understand how much time you'll need to learn the basics. then on a piece of paper draw exactly what you want where you want it and pick the appropriate program for that need. colors and how you want it to look are all up to you.
Outline the sizes by making boxes if need be to determine what goes where.
do you want it flashy? If you have all the programs then it's just a matter of which to use. you selling something? someone?lol kidding! then check out the Form Builder. We are all here to help as users so no question is stupid or crazy, they all answer in a kindly manner and as easy to understand as possible so don't be affraid to ask for help. we're all coffeecup family here. Good luck and hope to hear from you soon.

I would start with the Visual Site Designer (VSD) program.

1) I always find it is easier to start with a fresh new page. Here it askes you to name the page. This name will be what appears at the top of a browser. Next it has a place for the file name. If you name it 'index' you will see this new page when you type yourdomain.com. You'll only see the page if you upload it thru VSD. The next section's size, background and text color are preferance. I like to have the 'centered' checked for final apperance in the browser. All of this can be changed when you select the 'Page Icon' at the top of VSD.

2) Add your elements to the page. Use vertical icons down the side of VSD; the 'T' icon to place text where you want, the 'square-circle-triangle' for solid shapes, the icon with a picture is for pictures. **Now I grabed all my pictures from my WWW hosting site. You know, copy the http:// address of the image, then click the picture tool, then paste the address in the open bar.** Thoes three tool icons create objects on the page which you can manipulate/change with the icons at the top of VSD. The '</>' icon is for inserting HTML code. You may have to add files under 'Setting' menu/'Add files...' if your HTML code referances them. The next icon is for .xml flash/files. When you save gallerys, jukeboxes, video players...ect. you can find the xml file that the coffeecup programs makes then insert on your page. The other icons down the side open the CoffeeCup programs.

3) Set up your FTP settings with your hosted site under the settings menu. Test the connection. If any errors search the forum for other users with your simular problem or post the new topic. Upload your pages to your FTP on the WWW. If you need to make changes to your page after uploading I find that 'Re-sync Website' under setting menu work great for publishing changes.

Thats a very basic not too technical step process to get you in the right direction. And like Bruce said come back to the forum if you have more questions.

Hope that helps!

Wow!

Thanks guys you have given me a great kick in the start.

Lots of good info there for us newbees.

I will try not to ask questions before I do a search.

Man this is exciting!

I have always wanted to try this and I think between the Coffee Cup software and these forums I may just be able to get this into my old brain. I am sure there will be a few brain farts along the way but what the hey... nothing ventured nothing gained. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Thanks again guys for your input, it was extremley informative and very appreciated.

Regards,

Pilgrim
