Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I dont understand !!!!!!!
I wanted to create a banner at the top of my homepage which was effectively a slideshow of pics. I created a banner using your photo gallery and uploaded via the flash tool in vsd and then published the site to 'see it in action' and - hey presto, all was well

The problems started when I tried to alter the banner by adding pics to the original album in photo gallery - everytime i create a new album and try to replace the old one in vsd by uploading the new one via the same flash tool it just constantly reverts back to the old one ???

I have tried deleting every file in vsd relating to the flash object, i have COMPLETELY deleted everything in photo gallery and tried creating a whole new album with a different name AND i have accessed my uploaded files via my hosting providers (ipage) site and deleted EVERYTHING - including the whole of my vsd website and tried uploading it all again from scratch

Im now at a point where my website first page is live - if you go to www.theenchanters.co.uk you will see the big gap at the top where my photo gallery banner should be - but whenever i now create a banner in photo gallery and save it, and then try and upload to vsd, all i get is the original banner (how is this even possible when i have deleted all relevant files !!!!?) during the publishing process of vsd i keep getting messages saying files (relating to the photo gallery banners) are missing and then if i try and open photo gallery again i find that whatever i have just created has just vanished into thin air !!!!

i made it work once, im not doing anything different - so what the hell is going on -? please help as im about to go crazy xxx

First, I have to say this, you do realize that no one with an idevice will be able to see your slide show. Apple does not support flash at all, well not without jumping through multiple hoops.

That said, have you tried to upload your gallery from the Photo Gallery program itself? Then just add the code it gives you to an HTML box in VSD where you want the gallery to be displayed.

That said, have a look here for an alternative... http://progrower.coffeecup.com/jqueryslideshow.html

He also has many other options for VSD users ... http://progrower.coffeecup.com

many thanks xxx

Anything FLASH will not be visible on an idevice. An 'animated' GIF graphic or banner would be. So would an HTML5 animation which is what a lot of new websites are sporting. Everything from the WOW slider to Visual Lightbox would be visable on any device and would also be 'responsive' if your site is too.

If you are not yet responsive, then I'd look at an option from this site as an easy setup ... http://progrower.coffeecup.com

You can keep your flash for pc users and show alternate for non flash devices.

ok, so one last thing thats really bugging me - now that i have deleted the banner i was using on vsd AND i have deleted all the files to do with it i can find on my pc AND i have completely wiped my hosted server and published vsd from scratch WHY WHY WHY does it keep saying 'so and so file (relating to that banner) not found, do you want to keep uploading anyway?' i have to click 'yes' about 15 times now for all the missing files !!!!!! how do i get vsd to uinderstand that i dont want or need these files anymore so stop asking for them !!!!!! xxxx

how do i get vsd to uinderstand that i dont want or need these files anymore so stop asking for them

This may be as simple as going to Edit/Remove Files off the tope menu and searching for any reference to those files you deleted. I'm not sure how you added those files, but usually you add outside files to VSD using Edit/Add Files. If you used one of the toolbar options to add a CC flash program it would have added the files here automatically. So, go to Edit/Remove files and look for any reference and delete it.

...what does 'responsive' mean and how can i achieve it

Well, that's a long question actually. A 'responsive' site is one that automatically adjusts to any screen size on any device. Meaning you site will look good on your PC, ipad, or smart phone without you having to make 3 sites. As the screen size shrinks your site adjusts according to 'break points' that you have designed into it. This is all new and CoffeeCup is developing several new applications to make this type of design easier for you. The first program, The Responsive Layout Maker' is for those that understand HTML5/CSS3 code really, although they say others can pick it up easy enough. I don't code so I'm not looking for it. It creates a 'framework' that adjust s, then you have to code in all your content you want on each page. Another program they are working on is called 'The Responsive Site Designer'. We are hoping that will be a lot like VSD but will allow us to easily create responsive sites. These programs and more are still in development and not ready for general release yet. Just testing mode. Stay tuned for more news!
