Are they the same thing? I want to build a site & use a .gif file as a button. Is this possible? Well, I've been told it is but is it an easy thing to accomplish? Here's the graphic I'd like to use.

Hiya Barbara,

To make a mouseover look for your menu you need to have 2 different images. One image will be the normal one you see and the other will be what you want people to see when they mouse over the button. This is not too difficult to do using a graphics editor you can do something like just make it a little darker or change the color or anything like that. Or you can check around for some already created button pairs which I'm sure there are tons of all over the internet.

The animated image you have attached might be a bit tricky for using mouseover effects, you won't be able to easily change it to anything for the alternate image unless you have an animation editor that you can use for that. But ...

What you could do is take a still image from the animation and use that as the main button and then use the animated one for the mouse over, that might work pretty slick actually. It would probably be a bit too busy having all your buttons rotating but doing the rotation on the mouseover would be pretty cool I would think.

If you need help on the image to get a still image from it let me know and I'll pull it out and post one here for you to use :)
