Support for Windows Edge browser (v15 at least) would be nice.
Once you accomplish the impossible, then you can move on to the hard stuff!
How can I add an image in the place holder I don't find the property it's missing

In CSS Grid Builder do the following:
Select the Picture Placeholder image by double clicking it. (This will put you in the "styles" tab on the right side of the screen - little pencil)
Click on the "Element" tab (little paper and magnifying glass icon). Make sure the placeholder picture you want to add an image to is selected in the tree.
In the section called "SELECTED ELEMENT PROPERTIES" use the Picture dropdown to select either "local image" or "online image" then you can select an image from the project resources panel to replace the placeholder image that is the default.

That is a Windows thing. Nothing that CC can change. But rumours have it, that the next version of Edge will have the necessary support.

How can I open an existing HTML document with CSS Grid Builder? I cannot find this functionality.
The Guide mentions that "Firefox has been especially on the front lines, adding cool tools such as the Grid Inspector". I have found that tool very useful when trying to see what's going on as I experiment - though finding the tiny symbol on which to click isn't always easy.
I haven't found any equivalent within CSS Grid Builder itself. If there is already such a facility within CSS Grid Builder, I would be glad to learn how to activate it. If there isn't, I think it would be helpful if there were added the ability to turn on/off (in the canvas/working area) the grid display for any selected item which has a grid.

I don't know if this thread is for Examples or reporting problems or not.
I built two examples from scratch mimicking my cover site (done in RSD) in order to learn CGB:
http://tjrdevelopment.org/tjrdevelopment2-cgb/
This example uses a Line Based grid and only for the elements BELOW the menu. The menu works. The About Us and Contact Us pages were made with CGB in separate projects. The picture links do work. The Contact Form is not there.
http://tjrdevelopment.org/tjrdevelopment3-cgb/
This example uses a Grid Based grid for ALL elements on the page. The menu does not work. The picture links do work.
I have found for both sites that the following web browsers support the Grid perfectly:
Firefox
Opera
Chrome
Android 6 Smartphone
iPhone Online Emulator
The following web browsers does not give correct results for the Grid:
Microsoft Edge
Internet Explorer
Seamonkey
RealPlayer (Browser)
One thing that did take a L O N G time: I could not see the bottom of the Grid Builder so I could not save a grid! I finally found that you have to hide the Toolbar and force a Full Screen to see the "Ok" button.
Other than that the product seems to work well.
