Edit Files From Your Server
Direct FTP has had this feature for a while, but now it’s better than ever! Simply choose a file on your server and click the Edit File button. The new Direct FTP gives you plenty of room to work, a clean interface, and the ability to manage and edit lots of files at once. Oh, and did we mention the code highlighting and completion features?
Code Completion
It’s a fact: the more you have to type, the quicker you’ll wear out your keyboard and tire your hands, wrists, and fingers. Give your keyboard and hands some much-needed rest with Direct FTP’s code completion! Start typing any HTML tag or attribute, and Direct FTP will finish the code automatically. It even properly closes your HTML tags for you. Talk about efficiency!
FTP Activity Pane
FTP logs are cryptic and difficult to read, but there's no need to worry about that with Direct FTP! When you upload or download files, the Activity pane shows the progress and result of the transfer. If an error occurs, it will be shown in a clean, readable way. This keeps the process of managing your site seamless and user friendly.
FTP, SFTP, FTPS, and More
You need a program that can handle all the different flavors of FTP out there. With Direct FTP, you now have a choice between an array of different protocols, including FTP, SFTP, FTPS, and their different methods of encryption. Direct FTP can now even handle HTTP.
Combo Bookmarks
This new feature is powerful and elegant; it’s the strong, silent type. You may not realize it yet, but once you start using it, you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it. Basically, combo bookmarks act like normal bookmarks, except they let you save the local and remote folders, then call them both up simultaneously at any time. This works wonders for managing your files.
Browsing History
Forget where you left that important file? Direct FTP didn’t. It remembers where you’ve browsed in a session on your local computer and keeps your tracks neatly tucked away in a drop-down menu. Accessing a folder you’ve already been to is effortless. Click the drop-down, select the folder, and you’re there.
Vital Info at a Glance
At the bottom of the Direct FTP window is the handy, info-packed Statusbar. This bar contains lots of information at any given time, helping to keep you informed of what’s going on in your session just by glancing at it. This keeps you on the ball whether you’re managing just a few files or hundreds of them.

Local File Management
Direct FTP will now let you manage your local files, and even execute them, from the local file browser. Everything works like you would expect: double-click an executable file and it will launch. Drag and drop files in and out of the local file browser, and they will be moved accordingly.
Another one of our favorite parts of Direct FTP is the ability to make a backup ZIP file of your Website with just one click. The Archive feature automatically adds all the files and folders to one file and saves it on your local computer. You'll never have to worry about losing your work again!
