So you're having problems referencing Flash objects in VSD 7.0?

Holy crap, Batman! While this may sound like a major issue, it is actually easily correctable.

It is likely that you're experiencing referencing issues with your project files. First, be sure that you are using the latest version of Visual Site Designer. If you're unsure on how to do so, simply go to Help > About within the program. You can also go here to download the latest update.

After installing the latest version of the software, you will also need to do remove all Flash projects from your site:

  1. Select an object
  2. Click the Object Toolbar icon
  3. Click Remove Flash.

You will need to do this for each and every page you have a Flash object on. Once this is completed, you will need to manually remove any attached files by going to Edit Menu > Remove Files and then remove all the referenced files that were associated with the Flash objects you just removed.

Once you do that, click Save and your website will be updated; any alerts about missing files should be removed. Now you can add the Flash projects back to your website again.

  1. Click the Add Flash icon that looks like a lightning bolt
  2. Left click inside your project where you want the object to appear
  3. Browse for the XML file on your computer and select Open.

Once you have done so, you will only be able to see a box with "CLICK PREVIEW TO SEE THIS OBJECT" written across it. Visual Site Designer will not be able to show your project while editing, so you will need to click Preview to view it.

So with that, you should be all set and hopefully this will never happen again! :)
