Need to share your account information with someone else? We have you covered as there are several formats and options to export your account information:

  1. Export to CSV
  2. Export to Plain Text
  3. Export to Shared LockBox File
  4. E-Mail Exported Shared LockBox File

Export to a CSV, Plain Text or Shared LockBox File

Exporting your account information via CSV, Plain Text or Shared LockBox File follows the same process. Follow the instructions below to export in one of these formats.

Step 1:

Select the category in the tree or the accounts in the Account pane that you wish to export and goto File > Export and choose one of the following:

  • Export to Comma Separated Values
  • Export to Plain Text
  • Shared LockBox File: There is an option with this format. You can secure your export by assigning a password to the Shared LockBox File in the provided field.
Step 2:

In the Export window Select the accounts you wish to export.

  • Export all accounts in the database
  • Export all accounts in the current category
  • Export only the selected accounts.
Step 3:

Choose where you want to save the exported file by clicking the Browse Folder button.

Step 4:

Click Export and your file will be saved in the location you choose in above.

E-Mail Shared LockBox File

Step 1:

Right Click the category in the tree or the accounts in the Account pane that you wish to export and select Shared LockBox File.

Step 2:

In the Create Shared LockBox File window select the accounts you wish to export.

  • Export all accounts in the database
  • Export all accounts in the current category.
    • Include Subcategories
  • Export only the selected accounts.
Step 3:

Under the Options section you can choose to password protect the file, which is recommended, and to send the file via E-Mail. If you decide to send the file via E-Mail please see the SMTP Settings section below.

Step 4:

Choose where you want to save the exported file by clicking the Browse Folder button.

Step 5:

Click Export and your file will be saved in the location you choose in Step 4.

SMTP Settings

To setup your SMTP Settings you need to navigate to Tools > Edit E-Mail Settings

Here you will need to enter the information for the SMTP server you wish to use. If you do not know this information you will need to contact your E-Mail provider to obtain it.

 

When contacting your E-Mail provider ask them for the following information:

  1. E-Mail address that should be used
  2. SMTP Username
  3. SMTP Password
  4. SMTP Server
  5. SMTP Port
  6. Does my outgoing SMTP server require authentication
    • If it does what settings should I be using?

Once you have this information enter it into the E-Mail Settings Window and you are good to go!

 

Not able to send an email in LockBox?

If you experience issues sending e-mail with LockBox, your best bet is to go to Tools > Edit E-mail Settings and make sure your e-mail settings are correct. Please note that you should use the e-mail account provided by your web host, such as youraccount@comcast.net oryouraccount@aol.com. Other accounts, including Hotmail, Yahoo!, and Gmail, may not work. F.Y.I., general e-mail settings are the primary e-mail settings used to send e-mails from within the program. You should configure this section in the same way you would configure an e-mail program such as Outlook or Thunderbird.
