Thanks Wayan. So I suppose it was a mistake mentioning my site here. <SIGH>

No not really always worth asking, If you hadn't asked then you would still be under the impression that social media links counted for SEO results.
But then again CC forums aren't specialists in SEO problems, there may be quite a few who are knowledgeable & can advise but really the thing you need worry about initially is getting your site up & running, looking good at all device widths, & Placing content that helps WITH SEO in the best place on your pages. That's design work (not to be confused with building/developing sites)

I actually meant, posting my site link here. :-)

Thanks Wayan!

By the way, I want to set up a sub-folder on my ISP's server for my domain, to test the new template as I work on it, but don't want Google to index that sub-folder. I THINK I may be able to put a robots.txt within the test folder which would keep Google from indexing JUST that sub-folder.

you should really use the "Disallow" directive for each page rather than noindex.
Disallow stops them crawling the pages you specify.

If you do the noindex, then you should also do a nofollow for any links you may have, because there is a possibility that your pages will still get indexed if there isn't a nofollow directive
here is an example of the code

Disallow: /example-page-1/

Disallow: /example-page-2/
