Logo advice please. I put together the first logo quickly as I was getting my website up and running. Now second guessing having my full name in the logo and the image is difficult to put on some backgrounds. I came up with the second as an attempt at a nice clean image that could be used just about anywhere. Or should I be hiring a pro since this really isn't my strong suit. Thoughts?

Try placing a drop shadow or border around text so it will stand out better on multiple backgrounds.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

How about that magnifying glass, and beside it the 'MTM' with the font size like the height of the magnifying glass, and then below it all in smaller types you could have the company name. And the drop shadow and a border that Eric suggested, would look nice, I think. I've also seen some companies create their logos for different backgrounds, one for light bg and one for dark ones.

Something like this? I didn't suggest any additional effects here, I just took your image apart and put it together again.

I like it. Thanks Inger. I redesigned it with matching colors and a cleaner magnifying glass. What do you think?

Be careful you do not conflict with the Mary Tyler Moore Enterprises with your name and Logo.

Thanks Don. I will leave the kitten off and I think I should be good. I found a better magnifying glass image and think it looks better now. This way I can use the magnifying glass as a favicon and the MTM on any advertising stuff.

Hey Mark,

I agree with Eric you should add a dropshadow to this graphic. It will stand out more against the white background.
