Also, is this the preferred method by which the beta'ers are communicating issues back to CoffeeCup? Usually there is some sort of exclusive link for beta testers to give feedback?

Need to have some sort of clear indicator that the file you're currently on needs yet to be saved. i can't tell anywhere so i just have to keep saving "just in case", before i ftp the files. am i missing something?

Don't have the OSX version (Scott didn't send me my MAC yet :P) But on the WIN version there's an * on the tabs until you save each one... Not so on OSX?

Hi!

You can write your suggestions/problems here or you can open a ticket, the way you prefer, we are reading and taking into account both ;)

G Tech you can give the focus to the preview by using cmd+2 and then the way to navigate without having the arrows is to use back and shift+back keys.

Supperrrabbit, the icon color of the files that are modified is darker than when they are saved, you can notice this difference in the Project Area, at the top of the application next to the name of the file, and in the Open files lists ( left bottom corner and "View" menu > "Open Files").

Thanks for all the comments so far! :)

I add my voice for the ability to increase the edit display font size on the Web Editor

Otherwise, going great guns.

I haven't used CC HTML Editor before but was looking for a good tool for use on my new Mac, after using DreamWeaver in Windows. This looks like it will work well, but see some things that would be helpful.

- Wondering if there will be more templates in the final version. Some basic layout templates would be great like 2 column, 3 column, etc. with headers and/or footers, etc.
- Would love to be able to make changes to the text in the preview and have it change in the HTML, but I know that's more of a Visual Site Designer type of thing.
- Definitely want the ability to FTP the files to the server.
- Ability to insert graphics easily
- It would be nice to have the various options pop up when you enter an HTML tag so you can easily select them (maybe it's there but I haven't used it enough to find it)

Thanks!

Thanks Lucia... I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I'm not sure that the "slightly darker" file icon is sufficient... It's kind of hard to see! Can we get the filenames at the bottom of the screen like the windows one, and give them a nice * if they aren't saved yet? It's not terribly convenient to look all the way left when you are working mid to right. Hope i get some backup on that one from others :)

Liking it so far though! even getting used to the whole "project" thing, though I would like to see an entire directory (my structure is "websites" with each subsequent domain name having its own directory within that one, subdirs in those, etc.) at once. better for a dev working on multiple websites at once.

here's another :)

i am confused by the "multiple page" thing going on. almost exclusively i'm working on one page at a time, and the tabbed method works best. right now, i have a php and an html page open, and they're fighting for screen space. how do i get rid of this and have them show one at a time?

more importantly, how can i tell what page i'm on? if i've gone away from the editor and am trying to determine what pages i opened earlier, i can't figure out how to do that! would be resolved by having the file names at the bottom like the windows html editor.

Update: so i just noticed that if you click on the page code, it shows in the top bar but still doesn't give you the directory path. i have many, many files called "index.php" and that filename doesn't help me :) and looking to the left doesn't help unless you already have the directory where that file lives open. again, if you've got subdirs upon subdirs, this isn't intuitive.

thanks for putting up with my griping, hopefully i'm helping in some way!

Have a couple of thoughts, suggestions some of which may echo others already stated here.
- I would like to be able to choose which split to view what I'm working on i.e. presently only get preview in left hand side, I prefer to work with preview on right and the other splits on the left.
- What about highlighting the opening and closing tags for elements - if you're working on a div that's nested deeply within other code it would be nice to have the opening & closing tags highlighted to make it easy to locate - This is a feature on the Bluefish editor and very useful.
- Would really like to have the ability to work on remote files, so FTP feature is something I'm looking forward to .
- How about a code navigator at the bottom of the project pane - making it easy to locate elements by name - say by clicking the element name and the page locates to it, I've been using Coda as my tool of choice up till now and this is a feature I use quite a lot I believe also on Espresso.
- Would like to be able to alter the editor font and size in "preferences" as I find the current defaults a little bit small.
Keep up the good work, really enjoying being part of the Beta group and being able to contribute.

Hi Peggy,

The FTP feature is being implemented right now :) and the autocompletion list is already included: if you do not see this list, you will need to go to Web Editor > Preferences > Editor and check "Auto-completion enabled". You can force it to be shown too if you press ctrl+shift+spacebar. I will add the other two options to our list.

About the templates yes, we want to add more layouts for the final release.

Thanks,

Hi Superrrabbit,

At the bottom is not possible, they are at the top as you noticed later ;) You have an icon there to see the state of the file, but I will pass your suggestion to our developers!

If you want to show an entire directory, (I answer you about this in the other topic), you will need to use "File" > "New Project" > "From Files and Folders" option. This way you will have the folder on the Project Tree and to show its contents you just need to unfold the folders and so on.
