Question on Streams

Hey guys, I'm back with a couple of questions about a s-drive stream used as a blog. At this point I've set up a stream with a embeddable theme but haven't inserted it into my website. I want to make sure I know what I'm doing before taking that step. I may have to take this to the s-drive forum but thought I'd start here as I'd already broached this subject.
So the other evening I selected the free option thinking that since I want to run a blog and nothing else at this point that would be all I need and I can upgrade in the future if I need to.
I set up a stream with one of the embeddable themes and left it at that. Today I wanted to go in and play around with it and have come up against a problem. When I go to Stream the first post from the 24th is showing up and I can click on all the links on the home page of Stream. But, once I click on Customize Theme, nothing works. I can't get anything on this page to work, Themes, Customize and Settings at the top of the page do not react when I click on them. Save does, but if I'm not changing anything is it really saving? Do I need to do something else to access these?

I have some other questions but they can wait until I get this straightened out.

Thanks for any help, and let me know if I need to jump over to the S-Drive forum.
Linda

I figured it out. Apparently nothing works on internet explorer, at least not on my computer. Opened up Chrome and everything works fine. I'd even forgotten that I had IE running.

What version of IE are you using Linda? You should not have any issues using Internet Explorer.

Hey Scott,

It's version 11.

I can use Chrome, it is supposed to be my default browser but I needed to use IE for something the other day and I must have made it my default by mistake.

While I'm on here asking questions. When I go to my stream and click on "New Post" aren't there supposed to be some editing options? In the help article on how to include images in a stream post with the S-Drive dashboard, it shows a toolbox with alignment options, bullets the little button that looks like a house that is mentioned in the help article and others. I'm not getting that toolbox, am I supposed to? And when I try to write up a post and save it, everything thing I type runs together on one line, even if I hit "Enter" to go to another line.

Thanks, Linda

Interesting. I just tried IE 11 here, and it worked fine. Microsoft so stinks. ;)

We used to have a rich text editor, but that is no longer part of the Stream Dashboard. You would design your page in an editor and the copy/paste that markup into your post.

I find doing all my posting right from my iPhone to be the easiest way around that. Just include the photo and text and send it directly to your Stream. If you have more detailed content, then designing that in the Editor would first is what you would have to do.

Hmmm, Thanks Scott,

I may have to go back to the drawing board on this. I'm trying to set up a blog that is integrated in the website that my extremely computer illiterate husband can post to without having me stand over his shoulder all the time. He doesn't even have a smart phone!!!! I'll have to start checking out the blog sites out there again.

As far as IE goes, I only use it when Chrome is giving me problems which is very seldom. Like I said I didn't pay any attention when I opened it the other day. It's hard to tell what is going on with that. Next time I have a problem I'll try to remember to check it in the other browser before I start asking questions.

Thanks for your time,

Linda

It's too bad CC discontinued the WYSIWYG editor for Stream. I can only hope it's because they're going to "responsify" Stream.

Linda Pradetto, On the streams pg the manage your stream has post by email option. That might be a good solution for your husband posting.

Thanks guys, This might just work. One question though. Is there any way I can make the date font any larger. I figured out how to change the background color to match my website page, which is black, but the date is kind of getting lost. I'm sure it can be done in the HTML coding, but not sure where in there and don't want to mess it up.

Linda Pradetto, I go into the hard core mode and look for what I think will fix the problem then i take and copy and paste the section that I am changing into a wordpad file and keep it available. I change manually what i think will fix the problem and then save and then check to see what happened. If it fixed the problem great, but most of the time it does not fix the problem and makes it worse and then i have to go back into the hard core and change it back to exactly the way it was before changing anything. And then try something else. I am having problems with the responsiveness. Its fine on the main headings or blog topic headings they fit and adapt perfect to all devices. But the entries under the numbered headings they get chopped off. I have tried several times to fix that to no avail. Have you gotten yours to be responsive correctly throughout? Mine is stand alone, perhaps if I put it on a pg it would be easier to fix it. But I think you still have to make it work by hardcore code editing, the same as stand alone.
I just put in a blog post where this stuff can be seen. www.workhorsepainting.com click on blog blue button and its the latest entry. has a couple of pics on it and in the responsinator tester the problems show up.
OH yes how do you put pics in the numbered original blog post rather than under it in the comments section?
