Cascade for duplicating pages

Hi,

A quick question for what is the best strategy in RSD to handle duplicating pages for a multipage site.
I am used to DW template system and what I used to do was assign a class on the body tag for certain types of pages and an ID on the body tag for every single page.
Let's say my site has link pages, info pages and picture pages. I would define 3 different classes .LinkPage , .InfoPage , .PicturePage and assign them accordingly to body. Then every page would get an exclusive ID. That way I would be able to use the same classes or define more explicit ones using the body classes/Ids.

How does RSD handle the classes/Ids assigned to body via the Grid?
In particular, can I avoid having changes in a page being propagated to the rest of the site by giving the Grid element a specific class/ID, or do I have to add new selectors to every row/column/container?

I am still a little confused by the RSD concept of doing all design under one hood instead of seperating CSS and HTML into different editing actions

Thanks

Hi Beastro,
RSD has Components and Symbols to make site building easier.
Components are predefined elements like menus, forms and such that you may want to use on multiple projects. You can build your own or use some of the many included ones. Users here on the forums also share them.
Symbols are elements that you want to update on every page if you make a change. Make a change on one and they all get updated. Pretty slick setup.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thanks Eric,
So, if you have designed the index.html and want to use the same layout on other site pages, but have for example different backgrounds and font sizes on some of those pages, would you duplicate the index.html and then make changes to the duplicated pages, or would you start each page from scratch?
I understand that you would use symbols for a footer, for example.

Thanks

I have heard from previous forum discussions of a creating a "master.html page" which you could duplicate from. I myself have no experience with this method but if you want to duplicate off of a page with classes and such this may work. Usually after export of the project that page is not chosen to upload.

If your making another site then I would save the current one under a new project name and then alter to your needs. You can already duplicate pages within RSD so if you want to use the same layout for your whole site it's easily done. Just make sure you make common elements into Symbols before you copy so you have easy updating later.

You will not be able to use the body class or id unique to each page as the CSS style is applied at the element level.
You would have to have a unique class for each page that would have to be added to each element along with the class you are setting

such as on a div container: .LP .Blue or .IP .Blue or .PP .Blue

This would still allow you a global option setting for .Blue if you greyed out the class before it.
