Scott, or Adam,

I think you should also mention how to handle images of different shapes if you place them next to each other in a row (in columns, of course) and want them to shrink heightwise in sync. I had that problem here: http://eikweb.no/responsive-test, and I solved it, see http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/respons … post228263 (For all I know, there might of course be more than one way to skin the cat...)
Ha en riktig god dag!

This article is just for how to add images and not how to edit them. Trying to keep things very focused on a specific task to make it easier for people to follow and understand.

Thanks for posting these articles.

You are right. It makes it easier to split it into smaller chunks that are easier to understand.

I'm in the trial mode for RLM OSX edition and for the life of me don't understand why it's so hard to use images in this program. A "simple" browse files button would make it so much easier. Regardless, I'm manually inserting the file path in and nothing is happening I assume because the path is not complete somehow. (I'm copying and pasting the exact path the file info is giving me though.) Help! Before I pull all my hair out. Please.

You are doing it wrong Brian. Remember, RLM is not a sight designer. It is a layout maker. There is a big distinction between those two things.

You find instructions on how to add your images here at http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … yout-maker

NOTE: They will not show in preview, nor inside of the app. They only appear on expirt.

Oh. Well, that's interesting. Guess that's why trials are useful. I guess I don't see the point in this program though... but VSD was about as technical as I got in web design. Is there a Responsive VSD on the way? And is it Mac compatible?

Visual Site Designer builds websites using "absolute positioning". This means everything has a fixed place within your page and cannot adjust based on the viewer’s device size (desktop, tablet, mobile phone etc.). Absolute positioning does not allow for a fluid design. design.

Responsive Layout Maker solves one of the biggest challenges in responsive design, having a flexible core which can adapt based on the viewer’s screen size. In a nutshell, Responsive Layout Maker creates a responsive prototype website (called a layout). You build the structure of your website in Responsive Layout Maker and then export to any code editor to add your final content.

If you have not done so yet, we also have a bunch of articles on RLM to help you get more familiar with how the software works. Our Quick Start Guide is very helpful when getting started with Responsive Layout Maker. We recommend taking a look at it as it explains many different parts of RLM.

If your traffic statistics are leaning towards mobile traffic, we really suggest you dive into the responsive waters now. With Responsive Layout Maker along with the Quick Start Guide, some helpful videos and other tutorials will help you master this critical aspect web design. We recommend taking a look at it as it explains many different parts of Responsive Layout Maker. It will also allow you to hit the ground running when our Responsive Site Designer program is released (Responsive Site Designer will be able to import RLM layouts).

Note: There will be no further updates/support for VSD as it will most likely be discontinued upon the release of this program.
