Can Places connect to iCloud? If not, I'd like to suggest it.

Not yet, but we will be adding iCloud, S3 and other services in future releases.

What about Pogoplug and SOS?
That would tickle me silly!

I've been a fan for years, I think you offered two or maybe three programs then.
I'm glad to see you guys are still developing new cool, easy to use tools, and I hope this is a great success and puts you in front of a wider consumer base as well.
What you do, you do well, everything from customer service to development, your website layout and your fun and light-hearted approach to serious software!

Great Job to the whole team!

I just bought Places and used the software. Everything that is there now seems to work okay. That's great!

I have accounts at One Drive (several, in fact), Dropbox, and Google Drive and set up one of each of these places. I don't use Box.

But, I have several other cloud or storage sites that are not on the Add a Place list. I could give you a list, but rather than having more fixed names in the list could we have a general Place designation with parameters to be filled in by the user (site name, etc.)? Or, is this too difficult to implement or provide?

That is a little more complex. ;)

Each cloud service has an API. We need to connect to that and then merge it with our application. It isn't as easy as connecting to an FTP server that has a standard protocol. You would be simply amazed at how poorly some of these API's are with little documentation. That is why we started with the "Big Boys" first and will slowly add more. ;)

If you have a request for a specific cloud service, please post them here. I can say that the next two being added are iCloud and Amazon S3.

Thanks for your reply, Scott.

After I sent my post I should have realized that each cloud site is unique especially because of where the files are located and how they accessed on each site!

I am afraid that as the Place product matures, there will be a rather long list of clouds added to the menu and a lot more code modules will have to be written! I don't use all my cloud storage too much, but the product would be more useful to me to have most or all of the ones I use be able to transfer files among the clouds I use.

Because I am a customer or have simply signed up for them sometime in the past, here is my "wish" list for the cloud sites I have (beyond the existing ones):
    CoffeeCup S-Drive
    Amazon E-Cloud
    Shutterfly
    A-Drive
    File Factory
    RealPlayer Cloud
    Cox Communications Cloud Drive

In addition, it appears that one must disconnect and remove an existing cloud connection to those on the existing menu list in order to access a different instance of the cloud with a different login. For example, I have several OneDrive and several Google Drive accounts because I maintain several different websites that use them. I tried to change some of these to a different account and it did not seem to work unless I removed the old instance first.

So, unless I did it the wrong way, I would hope that Places could allow several different instances for the same existing cloud types at the same time. I don't know if this is possible in the design of the product.

In any case, I am sure with all this the CoffeeCup elves will have plenty to do after Christmas!

Hi,

I purchased Coffeecup Places and I think it's going to be one of my "big
helps".
There's one little thing however:
In the section with the FTP Profiles, I only see IP-addresses.
I would like to see e.g. "HUMAX 5050C" or "Freecom Silverstore NAS" a.k.a.
the description of the ip-address address.

Maybe in a next release of this software?

Kind regards and a happy new year to ye 'all.

Edit the FTP profile and click 'Show Advanced Settings'. You can put your own description in the Profile name field.

It'd be nice to see that as one of the fields that shows up in the setup, though.

just purchased Places, and when setting up SFTP to my main server, found that I cannot use a certificate. We have password access blocked, allowing only a public/private key pair for access. When seeing if this program could do that, I was informed I had to enter a password.

Did I miss something, or is this something that needs to be added to your (otherwise) very useful program?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
