I'd really love to add the menu builder to my site bu seems overwhelming.

The menu builder can seem complicated but is a powerful app. All you have to do is think how long it would take to hand code a menu that does what the menus from the menu maker do and all becomes clear.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Scott, if you plan your menu in advance it makes it easier to work through the steps to get it done.
- Solid menu block or individual buttons
- Colors and fonts/sizes
- Hover colors
- Background colors (main and/or drop downs)
- Rounded corners on buttons - or not (same for shadows)
If it's for a responsive site, you'll want to know where your breakpoints will be and where the menu will go to one column.
The more organized you are in advance, the quicker it goes. And as Eric pointed out, you can always do it from scratch. HTML, CSS and some Javascript or JQuery will get you there, but it might seem even more overwhelming than clicking through the MB options. :D

Well i thought it was going to be a challenge, and it was
Then i took a huge step back from it and used the subtle grey theme as a starting point
ignored button shapes shadows , and left the font and colours etc exactly as they were
as per usual with help from Scott at CC & the usual friendly forum bunch, mine is now up and running, so what i say is give it a go, and don't be frightened to ask questions
My new menu looks vastly better than my old VSD buttons, and i feel its taken my amatuer site into something nearly resembling a professional one
