I like to prepare my pages at a relatively low resolution such as 1024 x 768 so that I am sure that people with older displays won't have to keep scrolling horizontally. The Menu builder appears to start with a 1280 x 768 display and no means of scrolling to the left to reach the minmise, restore down or exit buttons in the top left corner on a screen set at 1024 x 768.
On higher resolution screens, the restore down option gives minimal ability to change the active image size

For me the menu builder always starts at 840px max width. Sounds like you need a larger monitor to design in. I see what your talking about on my laptop when I increase the maximum with to 1500px. I would open a support topic or make a suggestion.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

On a Mac, the Menu Builder starts relative to the window size, minus the right menu.

1328px the last time I checked, for a full window, but less for a smaller window. But I can resize it anytime after that.

On my MacBook the start width of the menu is exactly as on Windows, 840px.

Just to correct myself... the menu max width is indeed 840px as many mentioned. But I can change it without problems.

What I was looking at is the Viewport size :-( That number changes with the window size I use when I start a new menu.

I had to read the Start Guide again to remember the correct terms...
