Mobile Menu Issues - On Android...

I have created a simple horizontal menu with 3 menu buttons (top tier), 2 of which contain submenus (the home button has no submenus). I have published this menu in my website, designed in CoffeeCup's Responsive Site Designer. Everything appears to work as designed on a PC browser (IE, Chrome Firefox). With the browser size reduced, so as to force the menu into it's 'mobile menu' format, the menu and submenu links still all function correctly. However, when the website is loaded via an android device ALL the menus and submenu buttons all return to the home page and not their programmed URL links...

Any help with this issue much appreciated, any website that cannot be navigated on an android device is useless to millions of potential customers...:(

I wonder if you might have set the breakpoints a bit too far to the left. When I view the page on a Samsung half-size tablet, in portrait orientation, the menu still hasn't changed to the vertical version. Instead, the buttons are squashed into each other horizontally. I have no android phone to test it with.

I have no idea, though, why all the buttons sends you to the index page. If you could post your .mb file here (you may have to zip it), someone here can take a look at it and see how it can be rectified. I see that you have all the pages linked with an absolute URL. Could you try relative URLs? (a shot in the dark...)

Any guidance much appreciated :)

I will take a look at it. Meanwhile, could you please test the menu on the site jillneimark.com. The menu was made with MB, but for the rest I used the HTML Editor (this was pre-RSD).
Do you get the menu buttons to work in your android gadget? They work for me. I made the menu change to vertical for small screens at a wider point than you have done. Also, I have used relative URLs in the menu. The URLs get much shorter, so they will 'fit' on the buttons (You don't see that, of course, but I wonder if there is a problem if the URLs are too long and cover the 'back side' of several buttons. As I said, it's a shot in the dark, but maybe...)

Can you try this one? I'm not at home and have left my android tablet behind.

Oh, and my 'shot in the dark' I guess was just that. I have not changed your urls.

Hi Inger,

Thank you for taking a look. I tested your
jillneimark.com
site in my two Andriod devices and the menu appeared to work as designed, I certainly was able to navigate smoothly between pages.

I tried changing the menu links from absolute to relative addressing (copy attached), exported the menu into my Responsive Site Designer website, however, I was still unable to navigate my website pages. When testing the menu on an Iphone, ! can report I found no issues, and was able to navigate using this operating system.

So, on the face of it, it appears to be an issue solely related to Menu Builder menus (or RSD) and Android device browsers!!!

Any further assistance very much appreciated.

The absolute versus relative URLs is not the issue. It was just something that crossed my mind before I had seen your .mb file. Forget that.
Have you tried the file I posted above, the one ending in 2? What I changed was the width of your buttons on the breakpoint where the mobile menu appears. I set them all to 100%. It will be interesting to see if that works. I'll be away from my android device until tomorrow afternoon, so I can't test it myself.

Yes, I tried the menu 2, with your adjustments, but alas navigation on my android devices was not improved.

Any further assistance very much appreciated.

What if you take off that initial / in front of the urls?

I think you ought to contact CC support directly (Click on your name top right) about this. When I get home tomorrow I can always take another look with my android tablet, if you haven't got any further.

Or, you could always tweak my menu on the jillneimark site, chop away things you don't need and change the colours etc. I'll see if I can find the .mb file for that when I get home.

Hi Inger,

I'm willing to give that a try, other than that, I have parked it until I hear back from CoffeeCup's tech support.
