This is what I managed to create with visual site designer.

www.newbornsounds.co.uk

Its a new way for unsigned artists to get there name out there.

I used no css, I know no html or javascript. Any widgets needed i simply copy and pasted them in.

Have a look

Still tweaking - my first major site.

Tools:
V.S.D.
Flash Menu Builder
Photo Gallery (pot ash miner link - slide show button)
Flash Firestarter (Top Main Banner, Homepage Pic Slider)

+ GIMP and Cooltext (website) for buttons.

Thanks for all the help on the forums - I asked a lot of questions.
Been getting nice responses so far. Could not have done it without these great tools.

Hiya Michael,

Nicely done site setup there, but I'm seeing a lot of pixelated distortion in your images. I'd take a good look at your images to make sure if they were like that before saving and uploading the site as some of them are pretty bad. Great photo things you need but I think you should check out the quality a little more. Other than that, well done :)

Thanks, I'll review the photos. A few of the items were Inventor exports and they fell apart when I shrunk them down. I'll have to get a better grasp on that.

Here's mine, done with VSD

I looked at some of the other sites and noticed some people have pictures that change. How do I do that on my site?

Thanks!

You could get the CC Photo Gallery or wait for their non flash version of a web Photo Album to be completed or you could code a JQuery Slideshow.

For the main page switching pictures I used CoffeeCup Firestarter (flash).

I also found that using the resizing tool in VSD sometimes did not give the results I wanted (pixels).

I ended up resizing in VSD to find the size I wanted then going back to GIMP and resizing the original
to match the size I wanted and then imported that version. They looked much better.

This is what I recommend now. It's to hard to guess what size you'll need ahead of time. If you re-size the original that you used in VSD during the design process you don't have to do any thing else in VSD as VSD will see the changes to the image and publish the new one.
