As more and more business is done over the Internet, new ways of communicating with customers are being thought up. That is just what we did here with CoffeeCup Live Chat.
This program allows visitors the opportunity to chat with you in real time. Clicking on a “chat” link from your site, a visitor will be prompted to enter a username and will then be taken to a location where they will be able to chat with you. When a user enters the chat area on your site, our program will notify you of a visitor and will send them a welcome message. Both you and the visitor will be able to enter text into your respective interfaces and it will show up in the others area. This gives you the ability to answer questions from your visitor and potential client while they are on your site. No need to wait for e-mail replies any longer. This program can also be utilized for non-business use for chatting with friends or just an everyday user to your site, without the need for an instant messaging client.
Don't miss the boat, this is one feature visitors to your site and customers alike will love.
Getting Started
When you initially open the program you will see the screen below. It provides two options, Create new Live Chat and opening a saved one. We will go through the process of creating a new Live Chat.

Live Chat Setup Step 1: Website URL
In the initial step of this setup you are prompted to enter the URL for the location you will have the Live Chat on your site. The example shows you what a URL would look like when you use a subfolder on your server. If you were going to upload your files to the main folder, then just use the main URL for your site.
Important! You must upload your Live Chat to this exact location. If you upload the files to a different folder, your Live Chat will not function! See the troubleshooting area for more information.

Step 2: Save
Choose the location you want to save your files on your computer. The program defaults to the My Documents folder but you can choose any location by navigating there with the interface.
Step 3: FTP
The third step involves uploading the files to your server. If you have any of our recent Flash based software, Direct FTP or Free FTP, your server profiles will already be available in this program. If you do not have any of those programs installed, you will need to setup a server profile. You can find step-by-step directions on setting up a server profile in the Server Profile Setup area of this help file.
When you upload the files make sure you are uploading them to the same folder as you specified in Step 1, or your Live Chat will not function. (Login Failed)
You will be able to Edit your chat at a later time and overwrite the files which you just uploaded to the server.

Step 4: Setup Complete
The final step provides the URL which your users will need to click on in order to access your chat page. Copy the code to all your pages you want the link to show up in. Live Chat with Users.
